haha ... are you serious? ... she's been implicated in scandal after scandal!????
what ones ? I have heard about her mouth getting her in trouble but right now thats all I can think of.
Godfather.
The one I heard the most about was "Troopergate", in which she allegedly tried to use her power as Governor to have her brother in law fired from his job as a state trooper while he and Palin's sister were going through a messy custody battle. I never heard much about it after the 2008 race though. There were multiple investigations, some concluded she abused her power, others that she didn't."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -

I think she's just not that bright Godfather. Did you see the notes she had written on her hand that time? Right after she ripped Obama for using a teleprompter I might add.
It said: Energy, Tax Cuts, Lift American Spirit. She had 3 very general ideas to talk about, and she couldn't remember that. And I know her Katie Couric interview has been discussed to death, but that's because it was hilarious, she looked very dumb. She couldn't name one supreme court case besides Roe vs Wade.
I don't know how smart or bumb she is but she has made some sort of impact because we're talking about her.
like I have said I don't think I would vote for her but she has done things with her life most of us will only dream of.
and besides that she's hott!!!

There is also the factor that some people believe the President does not hold the power that the public once thought the office did. That the power lies with the money of the world.
Well, I would like to know why she did but it probably wouldn't effect my vote.
I know she and her husband broke up that was devastating I'm sure.
The child out of wedlock was tough too.
The being made fun of and pretty much being called a joke may have been rough.
Perhaps she quit because she knew at that point she couldn't do as good of a job anymore...
maybe it was a personal time of upheaval
maybe she liked the weather now elsewhere having had a taste of it

Or you just sympathize with her?0 -

That said, I still don't think she will run and like Trump, is using this as an opportunity to exploit free press.
her biggest advantage is that the majority of the population vote based on the letter next to the person's name0 -

I see what you're saying, but if all those personal matters were affecting her job, then she just shouldn't be President. People are going to joke about the President (hell she jokes about the President and talks more shit than any 3 other people combined), and the President is expected to continue to work through family problems.
I think she just quit for the pay day. She couldn't be Governor and do book tours, reality shows, and everything else she does. She saw the greener grass on the other said and took off. And I don't mind that one bit, everybody deserves to get paid. But that same person shouldn't be running for President. It shows, if nothing else, a lack of responsibility.Post edited by SatansFuton on"See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -

It’s very hard to feel sorry for someone like Palin. Yes, being made fun of is no fun, but doesn’t she bring this on all by herself with the notes on the hand, the “I read them all” answer to where she gets her news etc., etc.? Also, people in her position have a whole staff of servants to take care of their needs and besides, if they can’t take the heat they shouldn’t be in the running. It really is just that kind of job. And I’ll go back to my unanswered point that most of the rest of us do good things that rarely get acknowledged because it’s the right thing to do. Palin seems to do what she does for the ego strokes.

I think if she was President she wouldn't have quit either.
I'm one of those who pretty much thinks the President is now just a figure head...
perhaps always was.
Most here know me as a fairly positive person...
I'm positively sure the President isn't the one with the power...
the power is in the big bucks.
Therefore we want a President who can convince people otherwise so all hell doesn't let loose.

I'm pretty sure Palin didn't have any servants when the press has visited her home, not even a cook!
She's pretty down to earth or tries to portray that image.
Being made fun of on SNL was one thing but lots of pretty mean stuff was said... of course... people can be incredibly mean and disappointing.... another big fat why from me.0 -

Here's my view of Sarah Palin. And this assumes that what we see is the real Sarah Palin. But for arguments sake let's assume that Sarah really is this down to Earth, folksy, soccer/hockey mom. That's great, I love it. She would remind me of my mom and all of my friends mothers growing up. But I wouldn't vote for my mom (or my dad for that matter) to be mayor, much less President, though my parents aren't eligable anyway. Many of these people love her because they think she is just like them. But in all seriousness do these people think that they, or the man/woman standing next to them at one of these rallies would make a good President?
I don't think I would make a good President. Do I have some good ideas? Maybe. But it takes more than good intentions and a few ideas to be an effective President. And I don't think Sarah necessarily has good intentions, she'll just be another Republican. She has proven that she is just as partisan as any other politician, in fact more so. She seems downright petty, confrontational, and mean-spirited. I'm not entirely sure she wants to be President, I think she just wants to beat Obama in an election. I don't believe she has any real plan beyond that. She's more caught up in the Republican/Democrat rivalry than any actual politics or policy.
She does not seem to have the ability to act in an un-biased manner. Here's a good example. She called for Rahm Emanuel to resign or be fired for saying the word "retarded", but when Dr. Laura Schlessinger was in hot water for dropping the N-Word repeatedly on her radio show, Sarah got all "don't try to silence her, it's her 1st Amendment right" and went on to say "don't retreat... reload". So basically to Sarah it's inexcusable to say retarded (and I sympathize with the fact she has a mentally handicapped child) but it's perfectly OK to use racial slurs, including the most taboo of them all, the N-Word. Basically saying the 1st Amendment is great, as long as you aren't using it in a way she personally finds offensive. That's just retarded."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -
Pandora, after reading what you think of her, it's almost as if you romanticize about her... not in a female sexual/love way at all, it just seems that you haven't been following Palin at all with her activities, actions and the things that she says. Because if you did, I have a feeling you wouldn't sympathize with her as much as you do.
And I'm sorry, but, being a quitter at one political job very much Should sway your vote for that person or not. If she can't handle being a governor, she can't handle an even bigger job. Come on.0 -

I expect something very different from the people of politics
and it is not a romantic notion at all, quite the opposite. I just don't expect them to be good people.
I expect them to have an agenda. I think it is others who are romantic when they do not expect this.
But I do feel for them as people and feel for her and wish her the very best on her path and if that takes her closer to the White House I'll listen to her but with a grain of salt because its all pretty much a sham.0 -

I remember in a couple threads how I lashed out when I was hurt by another's remarks...
something I really wish I wouldn't do and am sorry and ashamed after.
We are all human but some people take joy in hurting
and belittling those that do not measure up to them, in their eyes.
Palin is a woman who has sought power I am sure she can be ruthless.0 -
Jeanwah wrote:Yes, and Palin has shown she can be the same. She is no victim here Pandora, actually, she is very well versed in "playing the victim" so the media and public put her in that category rather than her doing the right thing in stepping up and taking responsibility for her actions.
Yeah, that's the thing. She takes more shots at people and does more trash talking than anybody I have seen recently. If you talk shit, expect to get a little shit on yourself. With folksy wisdom like that maybe I should run for President!! But seriously, she had Fox News build a studio in her home apparently for the specific purpose of being able to take to the airwaves every time a Democrat says something in public and talk shit about it.
And some of the shots she takes are a pretty big reach. Like the one about Obama using a teleprompter. As if he is the only President to do so. Or that somehow a teleprompter is more uppity than reading a speech off a piece of paper, or in her case, writing notes on her hand. Bush used teleprompters (rather poorly), Clinton used them, in fact I would bet that every President that has been in office since the damn things were invented has probably used them. In fact, Sarah herself has used them. But she decided if she had nothing else to say, she might as well manufacture something to talk shit about. So I don't think we should feel sympathy when people take jabs at her."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -

I can understand not liking the situation, or finding it sickening as you say. But I don't see the need to feel sympathy for people who put themselves in the middle of it, willingly participate in it, and often escalate it. It's not like Sarah is just trying to mind her own business and people are cruelly calling her names. She's just getting back as good as she's giving. Yes, the quarreling is dumb and sad, but I don't feel sorry for anybody taking part in it. Whether it be Sarah Palin or anybody else."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0 -

I can't remember anyone I have respected in a long time in the political arena.
So many, including my son, are saying Ron Paul. He seemed like a sad old man who missed his prime in the debate not long ago. I thought he was on meds, couldn't connect with him like I was expecting. So much hope he brought but I'm afraid another disappointment.
Not sure who is running this show or what the real agenda is but we are going down the tubes I fear.
