A woman? No problem. But this one?

America seems finally open to the idea of electing a woman to the presidency and the right woman could very well be the right person for the job. But this woman? Please, no!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110529/ap_ ... e/us_palin

James Howard Kunstler recently stated the case well: "I hope that Sarah Palin's competitors on the right will stand up to her American fascist themes and call her out for what she is: a half-educated TV performer unqualified for high political office. The true shame of this country is that we have to take a clown like Sarah Palin seriously."

Many americans know they're dumb. And they want someone just like them. They want to think they, without working hard, knowing much or studying anything, could also be president.

Palin is dumb as a brick and Bachman is batshit crazy......

    nice going Tea Party.....

seeing those two in a GOP debate would make for great comedy, but really it would only make me cry.

I don't think we're in any danger of having President Palin. Her actual popularity is skewed by the fact that the media loves her. Not just Fox News, everybody loves talking about her. The amount of media attention she gets is not proportionate to her actual popularity. Add to that the fact that most Republicans hate her as much as the Democrats do. If she were actually to run for President, and have to come out of her self-imposed, Fox News managed bubble that she enjoys, she will get torn to shreds, again. I seriously doubt she would get the Republican nomination, much less win a Presidential election. I could be wrong though. I know hardcore Republicans that vote the line who say they just simply won't vote if she is the Republican candidate, and others that say they would vote Democrat.

    Hm, i'd have to disagree.
I think a lot of people just value things differently, in that they take what she "stands for" as a good reason for her to be president and mixed with the fact that they are too easily persuaded by nonsense follow her blindly.

See, I don't know if anyone knows what she "stands for."

She just uses a lot of words to say "I represent you under-educated lazy people who wish you were richer, smarter and more successful without having to like... Try and shit."

She rubs their heads with phrases like Joe Sixpack and "The Real America." She pumps them up by slagging off more-qualified people with phrases like "elites" and "the lame stream media."

She doesn't actually talk about what she stands for because she stands for wringing money out of her idiot fans.

Exactly, Prince of Dorkness. Her “fans” often don’t really know what they stand for either. They’re against the government giving out money but then say “don’t touch my Medicare or my Social Security”. They say they’re against big government… except when they’re not. A rather confused lot I’d say.

I agree, she is unlikely to be elected president but what is just as unsettling is the sheer number of people fawning after her. Remarkably strange.

Can you imagine how angry hillary clinton would be if she became president?

I tend to agree. Al Gore was essentially ripped for being this boring intellectual guy that talked about policy. I don't know that people, as Prince of Dorkness says, "know they're dumb", but they certainly are put off by people that are "too smart."

Anti-intellectualism lead Bush to be popular enough to win twice. And I have always thought of her as "Bush in a skirt." Dumb. Not too dumb. But most importantly, not too smart. Too smart is bad to many people.

So...she's appealing to those who love to buy and burn gas?! Who exactly can afford gas right now, with these prices?

For the safety and benefit of just about everyone, I suggest she does some extensive exhaust pipe research. She can begin with the effects of prolonged mouth to exhaust pipe contact.

You can all thank me later.

it's nice to see all the self-rightous playing together on the train, this woman like it or not has made her mark in history already and like it or not she's still moving forward, what have you done with your lifes ? besides find the faults in other people who have achieved more than you ? you guys are amazing. ;)
and she can still get on the back of my bike anytime just for a chance to talk with her and learn what it is that gives her vision to do what she has done with her life.

I like her... better than most. She is an extremely good sport.

I like someone who can laugh at themselves, who can take all kinds of shit
    and still keep turning up.

She's got a will to succeed, is unique and beautiful.
Strong without being masculine, fashionable while remaining natural.
These the positives. I bet as President she could give a good speech

As far as the emissions thing she was speaking to motorcycle enthusiasts...
it was a joke... a bonding reference
she's a politician thats what they do. Say something to get in the news.

Cycles still get one of the best gas mileages around...
many who are now riding are doing so because of that.
The article mentions the rise in emissions, thats certainly not the cyclists fault...
its the huge gas guzzlers on the road and the fact that people in general can not
or will not cut back even at these gas prices.
I think her reference was meant to be ironic and news catching.

I'm just glad Hillary missed her chance... she did right? ;)

Yeah, she does seem like a good sport, as long as she's getting positive attention and things are going her way...

And she's not much of a politician when she can't handle her current governing seat and quits! Have people forgotten this??

True, but they didn't quit their political jobs because they "couldn't handle it", something Palin has said herself about quitting as governor of Alaska. And yet, she's fit to possibly run the country? Prince of Dorkness said it is right, we're really dumb to support this woman and it's because we want someone in the White House just like us: dumb.
