Well with the NBA playoffs and Stanely Cup getting ready to get under way, I'm saddened by the fact that there will be no more real sports for a few months.
Guess I'll just have to get out and do something.

Thanks to Roger Goodell, the MLB playoffs will be on center stage this fall. Love it
Braves/Red Sox World Series. I'm calling it.

Wouldn't shock me. Heyward is the key for atlanta...need him healthy. They are solid though.
I hate the red sox and their 3 billion fans (I will never understand why so many people outside of boston like that team). I just don't want them to win it.

well put.
i thought the nhl ended weeks ago? :?
Baseball is life.
That would make life a little boring, no?
I dont know how anyone can even stomach the NBA anymore.
MLB all star break
Imagine just baseball
That would be hell on earth
easy. baseball is the soundtrack to summer.
But seriously, baseball is lame. It's the sport I participated in the most in my youth. Watching it though I'd rather watch two flies fuck.
When are all you fans going to start filling in the seats? Never see the other major sports with that low of attendance.
And they play 162 fucking games. That really makes each game special. I can't stand watching the NBA or NHL until the playoffs because the games have no meaning. Baseball I can't even watch the playoffs, though I do try to catch some of the World Series. I can watch SportsCenter or Baseball Tonight and see everything there is good to see in a matter of minutes.
Just my opinion. Obviously a lot of you enjoy baseball.

agreed on teh empty seats. it's like they should have saved some money and built stadiums that hold 20K instead of the 40+ that most hold.
As for attendance, my team has sold out about 150 games in a row and has consistently sold at least 35K tixx since the new stadium opened in 2004.
Hockey's pretty good too. How the hell are the Stanley Cup Finals starting later than the NBA Finals? :?

most teams only sell out opening day. philly is the exception.
+1. I'd be alright with only watching baseball for the rest of my life. Sure, I'd miss football and hockey, but really, think about a summer without baseball
attendace by team.
looks like only a handful of teams are coming close to filling hte stadiums.
and this is clearly paid tickets because their is no way wrigley has been 85% full. actual seats filled their is closer to 60%

looks like most teams are at 90%+ now of course, not every ticket sold turns into a seat at the game but still....on average, most teams are doing ok at the gate.
seems like if you look at % of tickets sold, the leagues go like this
NFL
NHL
NBA
MLB
no of course, MLB has a bizzillion more dates than the other leagues and their stadiums are generally twice the size of nba/nhl stadiums. on the flip side, while the nfl stadiums are large, there are only a handful of home games each season.
This is obvious, considering my sig. Although Section 106 is my section for both the Phillies and Temple Owls b-ball, so I can use it all year.
Yankees don't sell out any games because the closest ones to the field cost about $78,000.
Enjoy watching the douchebags win the NBA Finals, if that's your thing.

Sorry I don't bother with sigs. Too many annoying ones. I don't want to see the douchebags win the Nba finals either. But seeing that you are in Philly I understand why you like baseball after all they are the only Philly team to win anything for decades.
Yep, we're fair weather fans. Still the only franchise in the world with 10,000 losses. Nice call. You got it.
