was at that show...love the alarm
Saw the same tour about 3000 miles away...honestly and surprisingly the loudest show I ever went to. Played a 2000 seat place and seemed like the volume was set for a football field. My ears rang for days on end afterwards. Great show otherwise.

Ive been finding myself liking alot more 80's hits. but hair metal will NEVER be cool. I think the 80's are coming back, or are already back and people dont realize it. Alot of current indie electronic/rock is really 80's influenced. Not to mention what some of these hipster kids wear.

    You're on a mission and you're wishin'
someone could cure you're lonely condition
You're lookin for love in all the wrong places
Not fine girls just ugly faces
    From frustration first inclination
Is to become a monk and leave the situation
But every dark tunnel has a lighter hope
So don't hang yourself with a celibate rope
New movie's showin... so you're goin
Could care less about the five you're blowin
Theatre gets dark just to start the show
When you spot a fine woman sittin in the front row
She's dressed in yellow, she says "Hello,
Come sit next to me you fine fellow"
You run over there without a second to loose
And what comes next, hey bust a move

that was the last year before my family got cable, so I didn't remember the song when it came out, but grew to like it years later.

Being one of the ones who spent a good chunk of the 80's in front of MTV, sure, I like 80's music. But I also like 90's music and music from the last decade. If I think a band has got talent and originality, I give them a chance. And I give bonus points for a little bit of quirk...or a refusal to be pigeonholed into a single genre.

If I were to list my all-time favorite bands according to when they were most popular, it might look something like this:

    70's: The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac
80's: Bruce Springsteen (2), Bon Jovi, Prince, The Police. Queen, Dire Straits, Journey, Van Halen
90's: Pearl Jam (1), Alice In Chains (3), The Tragically Hip (5) (although never really popular in the US, where I live, I guess 90's fits best), Jeff Buckley, Jane's Addiction (again, I guess 90's fits best)
00's: Avenged Sevenfold (4), The Shins, Bullet For My Valentine, Il Nino, The Birthday Massacre

    Top 5 bolded.

So I'm sort of all over the place.

I don't buy the idea that all good music ended in the 90's. It's true that you have to sift through a lot of crap these days...but there is still good music to be had.

My feeling is that there has been crap in every decade...and good music in every decade. I think the 80's into the mid 90's was, for me, the best...but I have been successful in finding good music in every decade. :)

There's a few kinda big bands to come out of the 80's. Can't believe nobody mentioned U2 or R.E.M. The pop stuff I like now better than then I think. It's the nostalgia of it. Yeah, there's a lot of crap music to come out of the 80's, but there's a lot of crap music that's come out since too.

    Yes! I love radio stations that play 80s music. My twin has a couple 80s compilations and I put Bow Wow Wow's Candy on repeat. It reminds me of my co-worker's brother . . . O . . . M . . . G!
