I know this won't happen, but kind of like an AIC thing, or Blind Melon. If it was still Mike,Jeff,Matt, and Stone.. but a new singer would take his place. Id have to say no, you can't replace Ed.

Not to offend the other members of the band, but "no."

It just would not be the same. I would guess that they would think the same thing!!!
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

It's weird because AIC still sells out even with the new guy.

    Nice.

I was a HUGE AIC fan...I just don't think I could see them now. I am going to try to find a video on You Tube and see what I think...

There is no way they would go by the name Pearl Jam. I wouldn't watch some other D bag sing Eddies lyrics. It would feel like I was cheating on my wife. I wouldn't do it. I might do it just to see the spectacle but I would have to watch from over the fence with binoculars. Not paying to get in. It would never happen. STOP FUCKING WITH ME>>> makes me think of sad thoughts. If this ever happened I would lose part of my mind.

Would never happen. Those songs would go in a vault and would only come out for a reunion with Ed. Bottom line.

I'd go see the guys in other projects that weren't called Pearl Jam. Eddie is so key to the whole thing. He's the last piece of the puzzle. Without him it is not even remotely close to the same. Think about the percentage of time when watching PJ live that your eyes are glued to Ed. Probably 90% Maybe 80%

Good question but I hope it NEVER happens.

I wanted to see them on their last tour, only because I wanted to hear the songs live.

I saw it too and I was actually pleasently surprised. The coolest part was they stopped in the middle of the show to do a Layne Staley memorial slideshow. I dug that. Nice show of respect.

I would agree that you can't replace Ed of course and the band would never be half as good as it as now. BUT I would of course go out and see at least 1 or 2 shows to see how the band is and most importantly go and support the rest of the crew that I love.

You really cant call yourself a true Pearl Jam fan if you wouldnt go see the band at least once to support em. That is unless the rest of them kicked him out, then I would not want to support them!

I'm with you on this... They needed to come up with a different name at least. They could still go out on tour and play 'Alice In Chains' songs. But, going out as 'Alice In Chains' without Layne... not so much.

  • I would because everyone in Pearl Jam is super talented!
  • Change the name come up with their own music and only play a few PJ songs in between....yeah I would go see them. They all are great

Exactly. they wouldn't be Pearl Jam anymore.. but, we'd all go crazy to hear the old songs again.

OK I was suprised I really liked the New AIC concert
I'm ok with the new Blind Melon

    But pick a new name!!!!!

Van Halen tried doing it with a badass in Sammy, but wasn't Van Halen.

It would be really hard because Ed has wrote so many of the songs.

Ummm I think I would have a hard time with that since Ed's voice is such unique instrument. Its just so melded harmoniously with the other members. They all seem bonded together musically. Pearl Jam is like a puzzle, take any one piece away from it and the whole thing is worthless...

if Mike, Stone, Jeff, or Ed leave it's over, in fact if Matt leaves it most likely is over now. AIC should have reformed as something else, they still could have covered AIC songs....

It would all depend on the singer. I love the rest of the guys too, but it just wouldn't sound right to hear somebody else covering the material. Hearing the Linkin Park guy sing Hunger Strike with Cornell makes me realize even more how "wrong" that would be.

Let's just quit thinking about shit like this!

Pearl Jam is not Pearl Jam without Ed. That's all there is to it. You didn't see Nirvana go on without Kurt...same goes with Ed.

The voice is just too distinctive.

Couldn't do it, it would be far to depressing. Maybe if the other guys formed a new band.
