I know this franchise is a money-maker for Activision, but the series is starting to get very stale in my opinion.

They have already deep-sixed Guitar Hero due to over-saturating the market.

    Couldn't agree more.
I have them all, and there isn't much difference between any of them. Basically, you have to drop $65 for more maps and another short and unmemorable single player.

I'll still probably get it, but I'm hoping it won't be the exact same thing... :?

I'm over this series. Black Ops was fun for about two weeks then it got old real quick i know it's a game but don't say how you try to stay true to realisim when someone can come up behind you in a room and kill you with an RPG and nothing happens to them. No thanks activision you have taken enough of my money for this series.
    My butt itches!

    Agreed.
I had pretty much had enough after MW2, but someone sold me BLOPS for 20 dollars...

I'm still waiting for a game that has the "jump in vehicle" abilities of Battlefield, rag doll AI mechanics of Half life and weapons of COD!

I'm actually looking forward to it. COD is really the only game I play and you still can't beat it for multiplayer awesomenees. Black Ops was a bit disappointing, though, so I'm hoping MW3 kicks a little butt. Hopefully Battlefield 3 will give it a run for its money - a little competition goes a long way towards motivating developers to make better games.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

B-Ops was the first of the series that I didn't purchase all the add-on maps/updates.

Not only is each game becoming more and more of the same, and also disappointing...but the updates have really come to piss me off. $15 for 3 new maps and maybe a zombie level. C'mon!

    $65 for the game.
$15 for a map update (x 3...as they usually have 3 of them over the course of a year+)

$110 total for something that usually ends up pissing me off.

    Modern Warfare - $110
    World at War - $110
    Modern Warfare 2 - $110
    Black Ops - $110

$440 spent on this series if you got all the maps. WTF?!?! :o

That lasted a month and I couldn't be bothered to beat the first stage. Bright side is that I made $20 on trade in...

stale series is right. i don't think i will pick it up.

i will be more than occupied with gears of war 3, battlefield 3 and skyrim.

i actually liked black ops more than MW2. i feel like it was a more "honest" game. couldn't camp in a corner, rack up ridiculous kill streak awards to work your way up to a nuke to end the game.

and whenever i got killed by fuckers using lightweight, marathon and commando pro i wanted to have a rage fit each and every time. cheap, unrealistic bullshit.

    over this series.

I was hoping to see some $20 promotional offers but it appears Activision and their attorneys have put the kibosh on any direct cash-back promotions. Amazon has a few offers, but they tie into a direct product instead of a credit for a general purchase.

Activision has soundly passed E.A. as the new super villain of game publishers ... and i'll still probably buy the game anyway

  • Because it's practically Modern Warfare 2 but with different maps. But I've been playing it, and it blows Wack Ops out of the water. I am SO glad that game will never bask in the warmth of my PS3 EVER again.

    why 2.5?

    it's a $60 DLC for MW2. same game.

why the hate on black ops? thought the game was loads better than mw2.

Love the offline splitscreen spec-ops, my girlfriend and I play those missions together. Maybe I'm activision's bitch, but I'll pay $60 for another game that she's willing to sit in front of the tube and play with me.

I got it last night, but I only had enough time to play a little bit of the campaign and some multiplayer. So far so good, despite the overtiredness at work this morning.
