Im jealous as FUCK that you got to see them at Lolla in '92
i tell my mom all the time "why couldn't you be a good puerto rican and have me at 13 so that i would be old enough to go to Lolla in '92!" i hate it when people complain about rows 1,2,9, and 10 being random and whatever, i mean, i couldn't be in the club when i was 3 years old! this randomizing is the only chance i have... other than, you know, killing everyone with a 10c number ahead of me
I consider myself a pretty big PJ fan, but I read some of your posts, it sucks being born in 1990.
I need to make a list of the most rare PJ songs played live in case they play them at MSG...
Like: Habit, Rival, Thin Air.. etc
I know almost every other song, but I feel like lesser of a PJ fan compared to most of you guys! Anyone feel this way?
I feel as if you guys know SOOO MUCH more. it blows lol..

Bro, I'm 43, been a fan since the start...but not a megafan :-) (Had a young family, was in grad school, etc) I did buy all of the studio records when they came out (OK, I didn't buy "No Code" till years later), but nothing else. My mega fandom didn't hit till about 2003. Even so, Bonnaroo and DC this year will be my first live, in-person show (I've seen/have MANY bootleg shows .
Look at it this way, at 18 you have MANY more years to enjoy them ;-).

don't bum out.....at least you've discovered the band
HEY man! i'm 16 and i can assure you i'm as big a fuckin scary obsessed fan as all of you hahaha. the only thing i wish, is that i was older so i could have seen them more. i obviously know every fuckin song, cover, song stats, classic shows, have tons of dvd and cd boots, just about everything. the only thing you old folks got on me is experience! i've only been to one show. hartford 06. this year i'm seeing msg II, hartford, and mansfield II though.
i do have to say though. when i joined here early 06 .. it became like a pj school for me! i already knew aloot .. but come on now .. everyone gains so much from the pit. thats why i love it.

I think the best part of being a fan is we all have our own experiences, be it a live show, a studio album, or a love of collecting posters, songs, shirts, or other merchandise.
We are ALL different in what exactly draws us to the band and what we like and dislike.
For those who were into music and were blown away by Ten and V's etc. as they came out, that was a special time. Those who have discovered them now because of (young) age or perhaps coming from a different culture, get the joy of realizing this is an awesome community, and the Live Show is the greatest show out there. The fact that it changes night by night is unheard of in a major band. How lucky are we that get IT and get to plan for it, talk about it, write about it on message boards, anticipate it, and experience it.
Man it is great to be a fan of this band. Enjoy and have a great 1st show. It will exceed your expectations I'm certain.
I know where you are coming from too. I'm 18 and I pretty much cannot listen to anything else but pearl jam. All my friends think I am insane cause of my obsession but they respect it. I can listen through all the studio albums, I have some dvds, a lot of EV's solo stuff, all the xmas singles, and sooo many boots that my computer barely functions due to lack of hd space. My first show was amazing back in 06 at Continental Airlines night 2. Can't wait for june MSG 1+2 and then Hartford
that you like Pearl Jam, all the rest will come with time. Don't let us old farts make you feel bad. Just because I was in high school when you were born doesn't mean I am any more of a fan than you.

I think that you just want to express your love of the PJ with people who obviously have that same feelings you do, because it's nothing but love of the band around here. Hey, the music does the same for you now as it did for an older fan who got to see a show from the early years.
Enjoy the MSG shows, i'll be at both, and June can't come quickly enough.

Jeremy's spoken your my neighbor for gods sake! I am in Bay ridge. Be proud of yourself for recognizing how powerful and unique a musical experience Pearl Jam is. It was alot easier to discover them in the early 90's. To find them recently you actually had to seek them out. Good for you, for actually seeking and getting involved.
Listen to No Code on repeat that's where all the knowledge is hidden
I did that with Yield (also my very first PJ album). I wore out that CD for the majority of 1998.
To the OP: It's the personal relation with PJ's music that defies you as a die-hard fan not how many memorabilia you have of them or how many boots you bought or how low your 10C# is, etc, etc....
I grew up in a very poor family, never had a CD/player. I based my musical taste on music videos basically and sometimes would borrow friends' cassette to listen to. Then got a job at 15, so my first paycheck I decided to use it for a CD because I received a CD player just a little over month earlier for Christmas.
To this day, I still haven't gotten a clue to exactly why I decided to buy Yield. I always thought it was the shitty music scene in '97 (I can't remember any outstanding artist from that year). With Soundgarden broken up, Nirvana gone 3 years already and Alice in Chains on hiatus as well as the alternative rock scene in general. I guess when I heard they were releasing their 5th album I decided to give them my hard earned money because they're still making music. And wouldn't you know, I fell in love with Yield instantly!!!
Later in that summer, I signed up for BMG and ordered all their albums. I became a Jamaniac ever since!!!
its not what u know, its what u take from it, been a pj head since 92 and don't know anything about stone , jeff, mike , or matt, only seen them twice cos they dont like england. anyway u with us now, rare song live sometimes
