I consider myself a pretty big PJ fan, but I read some of your posts, it sucks being born in 1990.

I need to make a list of the most rare PJ songs played live in case they play them at MSG...

Like: Habit, Rival, Thin Air.. etc

I know almost every other song, but I feel like lesser of a PJ fan compared to most of you guys! Anyone feel this way?

I feel as if you guys know SOOO MUCH more. it blows lol..
2008 - MSG 6/24-6/25
2010 - Newark 5/18 MSG 5/21

    Frankly....Who cares!

I think some of the people here border insanity. I can see how someone would think that it's a big competition to see who can be the best fan.

Just enjoy the music and take what you want from it!

Agreed, I would not be here and definitely not know as much as I do about Rock and other music in general if it wasn't for Pearl Jam... and that's the truth.

The music moves me and PJ has a song for any emotion I could possibly have... any mood I'm in, there is a song that goes with it... no other band does that for me.

I actually got to see the Dead twice in my college days while I was loving Pearl Jam, there are some similarities in the large following both bands have and the fact that some just don't get it.

Don't let any of what goes on around here get to you. Go to shows and enjoy them for what they are. Not for what songs that were or were not played. People here make a big deal over songs that have only been played once or twice. Who cares?!

That being said, just enjoy it.

You don't need to worry about what is rare ... the only thing you need to do is enjoy the show.

There are a lot of "completeists" on here that hopefully feel that someday they will have seen every song played live ......... whatever. That's there enjoyment.

There are other on here that would love to hear Jeremy, Black, Daughter, Alive, et al 10 times in a row .... that's their deal.

There is no such thing as a "lesser" fan. As long as you enjoy the show, you don't need worry about what others think.

Hopefully this works for you grasshopper.

I remember my first show, 9/8/98 at Tweeter Center (then Great Woods) in Mansfield, MA. I remember how excited I was, it was like my life changed after that nite. Enjoy the MSG shows, you're in for an amazing nite. I'll be there with you screaming and dancing. And never feel inadequate as a PJ fan. Do it for yourself.

Dude, don't sweat it. I used to feel the same way you do now. I was fourteen when I first got into the band in 2000. I'm 22 now and consider myself a huge fan. Yeah, it sucks that me and you and a whole bunch of other people have gotten into the band later than most of the old heads on here, but its also cool that young folks like us appreciate, love, and admire one the greatest bands of all time.

And you know what, the older you get the more you'll get to see the band/hear the songs you want to hear. I skipped over songs so many times, but then you hear them live and you'll go back and listen to them...and then you'll listen to the other ones, too.

Quick story: I had no idea what "Whipping" was during Pittsburgh 2003, but I got the boot and listened to it...and now I think it's sweet. Fuck, I heard EV's "Satellite" for the first time yesterday (true story).

Don't worry about it. Like I said: Keep listening and keep loving. I'm eight years in to loving the greatest band ever, and it has been a quick eight to say the least. I

No big deal. I was born in 1986 and been a fan since 92-93 (I used to watch a lot of MTV back when i was 6-7). Obviously I didn't really understand the music that well back then, but I can say I haven't loved another band more in the last 15 years.

The way I look at it, you and I are lucky in a way that the band has been with us nearly all of our lives.

not a lot of us did, even if we were into PJ at the time. I was 14, I couldn't drive, didn't have any money, there was no way I could get to a festival.

  • its not what u know, its what u take from it, been a pj head since 92 and don't know anything about stone , jeff, mike , or matt, only seen them twice cos they dont like england. anyway u with us now, rare song live sometimes
  • If you're from the UK, like me, who gives a toss what's 'rare'? An entire PJ show is rare.. I've only seen em twice. I just enjoy it for what it is... great music. It's not a competition.
