...and we have the CDs and DVDs to prove it. I agree: new tour, new setlist, new openers. God I can't wait for these shows.

I really want them to open with Long Road.

It's Ed's connection with NYC... and it means something to those of us who live here.

A bit traditional, but Release cannot be beaten as an opener...

I kinda like the song. Not as a opener.

I've heard it 4 times already and can go without

I understand that 1st show feeling, you connect to certain songs your own way, and wanna hear it. Light Years on the other hand would be unreal in the surprise factor

enjoy the show(s) I'll be there Rockin out no matter what

The worst opener possible; when they opened with it in Vancouver, I rolled my eyes and knew it wouldn't be a great night. Turned out to be one of the worst setlists I've seen.

I like LBC but I've seen it open before... not the greatest opener IMO... I like the classic openers better, and I'm hoping for Oceans @ one of the 5 I'm going to because I've never seen it live.

I'd like Release, Oceans, Wash, Sometimes & Long Road to open my shows to be honest.

    Love Boat Captain
    Sometimes
    Oceans

Releash, Wash, or Oceans would be better.

Wash would be insane. Just from hearing the first notes, you would know it would be an amazing night.

After listening to the SF boots from 2006 this week I am now dying to hear Of The Girl open a show. It was stellar on the SF boot!

I've been lucky enough to hear the 5 you mentioned. Nothing beats Release. Oceans is amazing and is so rare that you have to appreicate it. Wash is spectacular. Sometimes is just as spectacular. Long Road is great too, but loses a bit of its lustre after you hear it 3 or 4 times.

Release was the first song I ever saw them play in 93 and I didn't think anything could top it. Then I saw them open with Of the Girl in SF 06. I don't know if it topped it, but it definitely is right up there. My face is still melted from the Of the Girl to Go transition that night.

Of the openers I've seen (Release x2, Animal, Whippin', Long Road, Of the Girl, 1/2 of Sometimes), I would vote Release or Of the Girl. The way he let the crowd sing "where it takes me" SF 06 3 was amazing.

So, BeerBaron, I would agree that nothing beats Release but Of the Girl is great. I also agree that after seeing Long Road once it's enough.

Also to stay on topic I agree LBC is a mediocre song. I read someone say one time that it is a shame a song that addresses the nine who died is called Love Boat Captain. The only good thing is from the DVD when he says, "let the show begin".

My gig songs that opened the show have been:

    Dub'96: Release
    Dub'00: Sometimes
    Dub'06: Inside job
Lisbon '06: Wasted reprise/ Life wasted
    Lisbon '06: Severed Hand
Poland '07: RVM (Release was dropped cos of Linkin park Boo!!)
    Wembley'07: Long Road

My favourite is Release. Have to see it again.

When they opened with it in '96 you could just see the outline of their bodies and I was in heaven.
It will never be beaten im afraid!!

    There was even tears!!

From what I heard, LP over played their set and Pearl Jam dropped around 6 songs (including Release & Alone).

Poland should've been one of the best gigs for 2007 but I was a little let down.

Yeah, i was a bit disappointed after Poland.

The venue was huge and didn't get close at all. Lp overplayed and Pjam dropped songs. BOOO!!

I did get to see/ hear "nothingman" for the first time so that was cool.

Maybe Im being greedy.... I mean PJam have set such a high standard for themselves when playing live.
