WELCOME TO THE BUGS AMONGST THE WAVES SPONSORED
"CAN'T KEEP/SAVE YOU GARAGE SALE"

The Bugs Amongst the Waves (BATW) group has decided to help kick start our fundraising campaign by organizing a sort of online garage sale. For those of you who have read about the group yet, we have just joined forces under the leadership of Don (dwhite76) to raise funds to help 10c members in need. The idea is to help out those of us who have hit a rough patch and could use a little helping hand. We decided to start with things like gas cards, grocery cards…things to help make ends meet. We are excited to see where this goes, and there is no telling what the scope of the things we might be able to do for each other. BUT- WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! (You can read details about what the BATW group is by visiting this thread: http://community.pearljam.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=156048)

What we need from you for the garage sale to be a success
We are putting the word out that we would like anyone who has stuff to sell to consider donating the proceeds (or a portion of the proceeds) to help us raise funds. This can be items such as: CDs, vinyl, posters, t-shirts, DVDs, any misc PJ merchandise, basically anything you have that you don’t need/want that you think someone else may want to purchase. We aren’t going to keep it to just PJ stuff- ANYTHING will be great and be very much appreciated!

WE DO NOT WANT YOU TO SEND US YOUR STUFF!!! We want to run the sale off of the forums here, and have the sellers mail items direct to buyers (we think this simplifies the process considerably and also saves money on shipping the item twice).

Here is how it will work:

For SELLERS:
1- Please PM Kelly (GivenToLukinKP) with the following information (PLEASE DO NOT POST IT ON THE THREAD! We want to keep one list going to keep it accurate and simple):
    - What the item is that you are pledging to donate proceeds from - How much you would like for the item to sell for - What percentage of the sale proceeds you will donate to Bugs

We hope sellers will include the shipping in the price of the item. However, we understand that if the item is unusually large or expensive to ship and you are giving 100% of the proceeds to BATW, you may not want to be out of pocket for shipping too. If you give us a heads up, we will be sure to make it clear on the list of items for sale that shipping will be extra and paid direct from the buyer to the seller.

2- Once you PM Kelly that info, she will add your item(s) to the list for the sale, along with your forum user name.

3- You will be contacted directly by interested buyers.

4- Seller will send Kelly a PM and let her know that an agreement has been reached.
****If you are donating 100% of the proceeds to BATW, then we will notify you once we receive payment for your item so you know you are good to ship it.

****If you are donating a percentage of the sale price, then payments will be made direct to you, and you will forward the BATW pledged amount to BugsAmongstTheWaves@gmail.com. When you make payment- PLEASE send it labeled as a gift and include the following information: Seller's forum user name, e-mail address (if its not the one attached to your paypal address), buyer's forum user name, and name of the item sold (so we can mark it off of the list)

    For BUYERS:
1- Take a look at the list of awesome stuff for sale! :D

2- PM the SELLER DIRECTLY for anything you are interested in. This lets you ask them questions about the item (condition, shipping charges, photos, etc) PLEASE DO NOT PAY US UNTIL YOU COME TO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE SELLER. If the seller comes back to us and says they haven’t approved the sale, we will have to do refunds and we want to keep this as clean cut and simple as we can!

3- Once a deal is reached, you will give your shipping information to the seller and payments will be made via PayPal.
      *****
If the seller is donating 100% of the proceeds to BATW, then payments can be made direct to BugsAmongstTheWaves@gmail.com. Please send as a "gift" on paypal (so we can avoid fees) and include the following information on payments: Seller's forum user name, your e-mail address (if its not the one attached to your paypal address), buyer's forum user name, and name of the item sold (so we can mark it off of the list)

***** If the seller is donating a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the item, then you will pay them directly. They will in turn forward to us the percentage they pledged to BATW.
The second post in this thread will be the "GARAGE SALE" list that we will keep up to date.

Sounds easy, right?:lol: Please, if you have any questions, PM me and I will be happy to clear things up!!

If you don’t currently have any items to contribute to the sale, we are also accepting cash donations. Even a buck will help!! You can send all donations to BugsAmongstTheWaves@gmail.com. Please include your forum name, email address (if it’s not the one used for paypal), and that it is a cash donation (so we don’t think you are trying to buy garage sale stuff). Please send all money labeled as a “gift” to Bugs Amongst The Waves so that we can minimize fees and help people out as much as possible!

    AND FINALLY...
If you got this far in my message, THANK YOU for staying tuned :D Your help, support, shout-outs and bumps are very much appreciated!!

      one question :
how are you going to determine who it is "in need"?

also - will there be a list of who donated to who? or who received?
    • excited to see how this works out! sounds great

      Ill take this question

we will take in requests and all board members will give their perspective on the current application (lack of better word) Then we will vote on it. Hard to think any one would vote against helping. We are not t going to be able to help all those who ask.Unfortunately we are very small at the moment. We will try and help the more serious cases first. We will do some digging to make sure the request is legit. Nothing to imposing

Then we will log it in to our records and have the donation and info on file so we can check and see if any one ids trying to take advantage of the system.

We will not discriminate in any way shape or form. Every one starts off with the benefit of the doubt. Every one is Golden in our book until proven other wise.

We are going to try and come up with a barometer of sorts of how many times we can donate to a singular person and stuff like that. We still have a lot of work to be put in.

If any one not on the board has any Complaints ,suggestions, or words of encouragements just PM me or one of the Board members and we will get back to you ASAP.

I hope I answered your question. Im sure a lot of people are asking that same question. Soot we did too. :D

Hard to think any one would vote against helping. We are not just going to hand out money to those who ask. We will do some digging to make sure the request is legit. Nothing to imposing

Thanks Don... If I may add to this (and please correct me if i am wrong here :) )

To answer about how you will know who gets helped, we fully intend on keeping everyone informed as to how this project has helped. We do not have the exact details of how we are going to communicate that set in stone yet, but I assure you, we are working on that and we will keep very tight records. Privacy is something we need to keep in mind--those who donate likely won't care if people know they donated, but recipients may not want it to be public knowledge. We will have to take this on a case by case basis. In any event, we will keep close track and detailed records. I think we will likely post something on the thread when funds go out as well...

      BUT FOR NOW...PLEASE....
      SEND IN YOUR NOMINATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!
We need people to give to so we can tell you how YOU helped them!! :D
      thank you :)

Kelly, thanks so much for helping all of us organize this... Will be going through the museum in the next couple days to find some items to put it in... :D:D

How about an PJ Ipod :lol: Just kidding Adam. I wish you were keeping it. I completely understand your thinking process though :D

Some of the money will be donated to BATW... I kind of had a mental fart when I posted it, I talked to Kelly about my momentary lapse of logic.. Once it sells, or if it sells I'll be donating!
