Show will go on... until October 9th, so I have four more shows.
UtahFM will be temporarily shutting the doors and going on a hiatus on October 12th until we can restructure and get to a point where we're ready to take a stab at things again.
We need a new location. But before we get that, we need to be able to establish a consistent income from underwriting and/or donations from partnering organizations that will help us fund the rent, utilities, music license, and equipment maintenance.
In the meantime, I believe UtahFM will be streaming rebroadcasts from our archives (a total of close to 3 entire years that we've been open) until we can sail the ship once more.
It was a heartbreaker meeting last night, but... if we take the time to actually structure ourselves better and concretely establish ourselves as a true and dedicated non-profit organization, we'll be better off.
Who knows, if we can make it more profound on round 2, we may be able to receive grants for being non-profit.
Anyway, as always... thanks for everyone's support for me, my show, and in the grand scheme, the station. I hope that it is sooner than later that we can bounce back and recover from this hit and be a stronger station.
It's a goal way at the bottom of the list at this point... but keeping in our minds a goal of expanding to an actualy fucking radio frequency would seriously benefit us... but, with that we lose the true "free media" thing as we will then be regulated, and thus, no more "fucks" and "shits" for me on air. I'm already conservative with those to begin with.

OH! Also, if you call in (which I would much encourage), refrain on mentioning the closing. For one reason or another it was agreed last night that we won't be making our official announcement until the 1st of October. not sure why, but... it's a pretty easy request to follow.

Spent last weekend in Boston and been getting crushed at work getting ready for 10 days in Canada ... so, I haven't been around this board much.
Dude, this really fucking blows, I'm sorry to hear about it.
That's alright. Everyone that came to the meeting last night were clearly the ones interested and passionate enough about trying to make UtahFM work out in the long haul.
It'll take work and time, but I'm hoping we can re-launch at some point. In the meantime, I think I'm going to craft up a demo of myself and shop that around. My pops taught me something I've always kept in my mind; always be trying to improve or better your self or your situation.

Unfortunately, the piss poor management at the station failed to notify me that the station had been locked up so I spent the time preparing last night, and driving across town to go in this morning and found out on my own.
I was anticipating 4 final shows, and to be quite honest and humbly frank, I had some fucking great playlists lined up. However, they won't reach the airwaves.
Thanks for your support everyone. I'd be more energetic in my post but I'm pretty pissed off right now about all the underlying issues behind UtahFM. The false positivity, empty promises, and lack of communication and sharing of details in management to all of us DJ's has reached a boiling point for me. Things are beginning to come more visible to me now on why UtahFM was destined to fail and I am a fool for believing this station would amount to anything more than it did. I put a lot of energy and hard work into trying to better this station, but it never helped to get it anywhere. I realize that no one reading this truly understands these issues, but this is a comfortable place to vent.
It is my goal, and I will accomplish it, to get back on the radio in one format or another.
Until then, I hope you will stick with me for the ride.
PS. Don't give up on community supported radio. It is easily the best radio there is today, and honestly is still about music and broadcasting.
