Well worth the 15:43 to watch this. Note McKibben says, "We need to fight with art and music too." Lets get on board with this, P.J. fans, and help make this happen.

His The End of Nature and Kunstler's The Long Emergency are very scary.....and, in my opinion, prophetic. Oil, oil, oil, oil, oil..................
how to break through the ignorance?
That would be the problem...
Otherwise, I agree with Bill!
Some people won't listen or don't want to hear it- including a few of my best friends. But getting the word out on climate change does reach others. Everyone who does something positive makes a difference. To not at least try means accepting the consequences of climate change. Don't give up- spread the word!

You can't. People's beliefs are more important than facts. There's no getting through to the stubborn and ignorant.
Maybe true in many cases, but try anyway because it makes sense. Look at it this way:
"Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out. Hope is a feeling that life and work have meaning. You either have it or you don't, regardless of the state of the world that surrounds you."

On 6 April 2011 it was announced that the RINGO (Rockefeller initiated NGO) 1Sky and their sister organization 350.org have ‘officially merged’ into one mass climate movement – the ‘NEW’ 350.org.
Let the Vatican preach, hallefuckinglujah, as we double-up on the soma followed by a double shot of absinthe burning like the embers of hell. Thank you Rockefellers, Clintons, McKibben and friends. Make way for the onslaught of illusion in which green capitalism and false solutions will somehow save us. In one last final performance – the elites will now perform their final magical act that defies all logic. Drum roll please … ladies and gentleman … we will now embrace the same system which is systematically destroying us – splash it with a green patina … and now … this same system will magically save us. Justice for all! The illuminated signs flash toward the audience … applause! applause! applause!

"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
HERE it is again
http://thesietch.org/mysietch/keith/2011/02/14/350-org-say-hello-business-goodbye-grassroots/
uhhh ... civil disobedience is generally non-violence ... it's what ghandi used to change things ...
in any case ... i guess if a big corporation donates to cancer research - cancer must not exist ...
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
No one is saying it does not exist....it's the hen watching over the hen house....
sorry ... that's how i interpreted a previous post ...
so ... we are all on agreement global warming is real then!?
So how is it the Tea Party was accused of violence on th MT....when all they called for is pick up the trash, and NO violence.....
you'd have to ask the person that said it ...
on what are you basing your position then? if 95% of the countries on earth are agreeing that is is real and are trying to take steps to preserve the planet for future generations, that is more evidence than i need. i don't need some crazy blogger to tell me what to think. either you agree that is exists and try to help try to change it, or do absolutely nothing and claim that it is a farce. in my opinion it is a no brainer.
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
Only when dealing with frightened and distracted people can nefarious groups foist their agenda on the masses.
I think we are all on the same side but the media and politicians are dividing this country.....
Unless you were there the pictures of ice, you see melting could be photo shopped...as others have proven to be.
photoshopped!?? ... now, i've heard it all ...
i guess the tornadoes down south were faked and the floods in australia a hoax!?? ...
Photoshopped? Oh that never happens!
can you imagine a scientific article using a photoshopped picture as evidence!?? ... and of a subject that anyone flying over the arctic could see first hand ...
it's absurd ... to say the least ...
i know you have your sources where you read about all this stuff ... but this is beyond silly ...
I think the environment should be taken care of. I think everyone should be a conservationist. But to me, glob...climate change is a boogey man used to push political agendas. Perhaps, if it had not become a political issue, we could all be working together at a common goal of conserving our planet ... probably not, but I like pipe dreams.

350.org seems too trendy for you? Fine, then try reading E.O. Wilson, Henry Pollack, Stephan Faris.
This is hard science. This is reality. These folks are not idiots. They're not in it for the prestige or the money or the fame. There's no hidden agenda here. This is not about ego. All that these folks are trying to do is lessen what is shaping up to be a major problem for your kids future.
There is a lot of global warming contrarian press on the internet. If you read it, I would strongly urge you also look further- see who's behind it, find out what their motives are. Find out who sponsers and funds them. Do some research.
At the very least, do what Edward Abbey suggested- go out and take a look at the world around you. It's changing and it's changing in ways that are not going to be good for future generations.
Sorry if I sound preachy but there just isn't enough time to be overly polite on this subject.

seriously, some people would deny the law of gravity exists until they trip and fall down...
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
haha ... i'm not sure how long you have been posting on this board but i have been beating that drum like forever ... haha ...
every now and then you'll get a new wave of lobby funded op-ed piece that the same folks will post and then when you show them that it's a load of crock - they go away ... then they come back with the same tired talking points they read from their right wing sources ...
what is truly sad is that the science of global warming is sooooooo simple ... it's not like you need to understand complex formulas and models ... but these people will NOT take the time to educate themselves ... they much rather read stuff that confirms their biases ...
Thank you for reminding me of the essential need to keep a good sense of humor. I get pretty wrapped up in all this stuff sometimes.
Thanks also for good input, polaris_x. I've only been posting here since January of this year. I've been a PJ fan for quite a while but just hadn't caught on to this forum until recently and discovered there is intelligent life on a this site. It's good to be here!
