Get ready for numb finger tips! I picked up my guitar for the first time in ages yesterday and my fingers are still a bit tender. It doesn't take long to break them in. I would suggest buying an electronic tuner.all you need is love, love is all you need0

when i first started i played a lot of drop d songs just to get a feel for strumming and not being so frustrated. i used tool's lateralus and undertow to get started.
for me the best thing to do was practice songs i liked that used basic open chords. for PJ try black, small town and betterman. good songs for learning chords D, C, A, G, E, Em and C/G.
and justinguitar.com is awesome of course0 -
