PJ Wedding Songs

So, I went to a wedding on the weekend and the bride (not even a PJ fan really) walked down the aisle to 'Just Breathe'. It was lovely and really suited the outdoor bushland setting.

So, not that I'm getting hitched, but just wondered what other songs people thought would be good for weddings out of curiosity....

Not sure a sad song about death should be played at a wedding, but I guess if you don't listen to the lyrics.

  • My wife and I got married last June and she surprised me with "Just Breathe" as we walked back down the aisle after our ceremony. The best part was it was done by the violin and acoustic guitarist we hired...it was awesome and I was completely amazed she got them to do it :)

I've always had fond memories of Yellow Ledbetter. It always signifys, not just an end, but a hopeful look towards the future. I asked my wife if we could have it played and we ended up finishing the reception with it. Everyone danced along with us until the very end when they all thought it was over and stopped dancing, leaving just my wife and I to finish the song with everyone else watching and clapping.

That's interesting. I do love Yellow Ledbetter, but I picture it as a song being played at my funeral, not my wedding. Just Breathe is probably the best song for the occasion.

If did a search yesterday and there are some decent older threads you should look at. I’m not sure many PJ songs would fit, but maybe Thin Air. There are some really good covers like Cant help falling in love and Throw your arms around me. Eddies cover of Tonight you belong to me is awesome – and its going to be on his new album. I like Neil Young’s version of Harvest Moon, but PJ cover that too.
Take me for a ride before we leave...

... and begins with the line, "I know you belong to somebody new" !!!!! :?
and ends... "I know with the dawn that you will be gone"

Not exactly an appropriate wedding song, methinks.

That said, my friend and his girlfriend played it at their friends' wedding a few years ago, so whatever floats your boat, I suppose.

We have (for Oct) Yellow Ledbetter as our wedding song.

She loves it cause it was in Friends last episode and I love it because Pearl Jam rules!

I walked down the aisle to a PJ cover of Love, Reign O'er Me. We used a Can't Help Falling in Love cover for our recessional. For some reason people were surprised that I walked down the aisle to Pearl Jam. They said they weren't expecting it, but should have been :-)
We played Just Breathe at some point during the reception and ended the reception with Yellow Ledbetter.

I think most people were surprised that our first dance wasn't also Pearl Jam - but my husband isn't a huge fan like me, so I tried to show restraint. And Pearl Jam isn't really that danceable.

Parachutes would be my ideal song. "What a different life had I not found this love with you." Beautiful.
I got some if you need it.
