I’m wondering about the people saying, if you can’t afford it all at once then you probably shouldn’t be going.
I have a question, if you put $1,000 on your credit card for tickets or whatever, do you pay it off immediately?
If not, you’re essentially doing the same thing, making payments.
I think it’s a brilliant idea. That way, maybe you don’t have to go into credit card debt to go to a festival show where tickets are pricier than normal.
Most people get paid every two weeks, you make one charge, you pay it off, you charge the next payment, you pay it off, etc. etc.

5/23/2011- An utter embarrassment... ticketing failures too many to list.
How can you agree when you dont even know what PJ has planned
I think you just answered your own question - don't even know
But you dont know when PJ will announce their plans, when it will be or how far in advance the announcement will come. DMB have not announced August dates yet. PJ is rumored to be in September. How is DMB doing it better exactly?
For all of us poor PJ fans, check what Dave is offering.....

If Pearl Jam's fan base were a bunch of teenagers like dmb's, this would work perfectly! If you don't have the money, dont go. Very simple concept. I really feel bad for those that are poor and have to resort to a payment plan on concert tickets. I would love to have a look at their credit rating...
I would say the avg fan age of both bands is roughly the same. What teenager likes DMB??? They haven't had a popular song for close to 10 years.
Payment plan is sweet. It's alot better than finding out about a show 2 days before tix go on sale and not having $500 laying around to blow.
People dissing it is fucking ridiculous. Sure there'll be a few people that abuse it and end up fucking themselves, but that's nobody else's problem. If it helps more fans that can actually afford it, get to the shows then it's totally worth.
Have you taken a loan for a house or a car, used your credit card for frivolous shit? Guess you shoulda just saved up or shopped within your means.

A loan for a house/car is COMPLETELY different than what we are talking about here. And I typically use a credit ONLY if I have the money to pay it off within a month to avoid finance charges. If more people did that, there wouldn't as many people crying the blues about debt in this country. Live within your means. That's all I'm saying, sport

And I think that's all Dave's giving you to pay off his tickets too - 30 days. 1st payment May 1st... 3rd and final June 1st. I'm betting if you miss a payment, you lose your tickets and probably a little bit of money as a "fee". Kinda like if you didn't make a full payment at the end of the month to your credit card and have to pay a little finance charge.
the DMB lineup is half cool and half complete shit IMO... OAR and DMB?? CHRIST! but i can't say that dave doesn't do a good job catering to his fan base... its just a shame his fan base places more importance on annual touring than quality new material from time to time
not sure i really get the payment options... but i guess a little variety doesn't hurt
y'all have fun if you're going... probably a lot of hot faux hippy tail

People can spend on whatever their little hearts desire. I was 16 once, and my priorities were
Beer
Drugs
Concerts/sporting events
Pizza
Bills
In that order. Than I realized life is hard when you make stupid descisions. So if I wanna do alot cool shit.... I have to do one of 2 things, probably both
Earn more
Cut out other non essentials
Whenever PJ announces this THING called PJ20 or whatever..... People are gonna complain about the price.... Maybe justified(wait n see to see what's offered before calling it too expensive)
They will also cry short notice. When we have all known of this for a long long time. Those same people shoulda been putting $20-50 a week away to make the hit seem easier.
I go to alot of shows, sporting events a year, plus vacations and buy myself and loved ones fun stuff. I pay all my bills on time and save a few dollars. I'm not a doctor or lawyer by any means.... I do bust my ass to earn decent $$...
The key is all the fun stuff I do motivates me to better myself by learning new skills and then earning the $$ to fuel the fun
America as a whole was living like a bunch of drunken sailors with the fucking plastic. You need credit cards, mine are the last resort if my bills need paying or I have an emergency. I am mindful with what comes in and what goes out in terms of income.
Everyone wants to live the good life.... Sometimes you gotta live in reality, even if your obsession grows and grows outta control

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Ticket sale dates aren't always convenient, and you might be able to afford it but you don't have all the money at that exact moment. I've lost out on concerts because even though I have some of the money saved, payday is a week away, and I'd be able to afford them then but by then they've already sold out. It's an option, if you don't like it, don't use it and don't feel so superior over others because they want to use it.
Thanks EPOTTSIII!

right, even if i buy stupid shit i pay my card off every month. i generally just have my bills get auto charged and then when the bill comes i pay it off.
there are 3 things you should accept debt for. 1) school, 2) a house, and 3) maybe a car, but i've paid cash for the last two cars we bought, it doesn't take long to save up some cash if you aren't paying 20-30% interest on credit card balances for tickets, posters, and eddie vedder action figures.

It may be awesome, but I bet the small print says that if the 2nd and 3rd payments don't go through, you lose the tickets, and are not entitled to a refund on your 1st or 1st/2nd payments.

1) I think it is ridiculous that people don't have any money saved up and live paycheck to paycheck. Maybe they would have some money if they didn't buy $500 DMB tickets? If I didn't have the money to pay it outright, I wouldn't even consider it. People need to get their priorities straight. I'm assuming this is for people who can't get a credit card, which is another clue that you probably shouldn't be blowing your money on concerts.
2) It is everyone's problem when someone abuses it and f*cks themselves. When they can't pay their bills because they went to see DMB, the taxpayers foot the bill.
3) Car and house loans are not frivolous. These are things you need, as opposed to thing you want like DMB tickets. HUGE difference. If you can afford the monthly payment and have enough saved up to cover a few months given the worst, you are in fact living within your means.

I always pay off my CC immediately, I have never paid one cent in interest, and I use my card all the time. It's called living within your means.
