Saw this last night, brilliant documentry about the band & Grohl since Cobains death. Then played whole new album afters, sounded ace, great to hear it after you've seen the making of it with Bob Mould & Krist Noveselic... Also, never knew about Grohl & Eddie playing with Mike Watt on his tour just after Foo Fighters got together... :o While watching it, kept thinking of Crowes PJ20 Doc & how amazing its gonna be, especially watchin it on the big screen!! Gonna be mega!! :D

Awesome. This is playing on Palladia tonight at 10pm EST and i have my DVR set.

Didn't eddie say in an interview on that tour with Watt he would get quarters and shit thrown at him by some of the fans because Watt's punk fans saw him as a corporate sell out whore or something like that? I may be misremembering that so don't quote me lol

Saw it on Tuesday with the 3D show. It was awesome...the only thing that sucked was that we missed a few minutes of the docu because of technical difficulties. They will show it again plus 3D show on cinema (April 14 FOR FREE) for those shows that had problems...might go again. They will show on VH1/Classics and Palladia today!

Like I said in the Wasting Light thread, this is going to be hard to watch on cable tv because of how much language they are going to have to censor.

Saw it last night, loved it! There were a few moments when I got a bit of a lump in my throat, particularly when they were talking about Kurt, sad times. It was cool to see bits of footage from shows I was at theough, like the Reading Festival, Brixton Academy and of course the Wembley shows from a couple of years back - the footage of the whole crowd singing along to Best Of You is absolutely spine-tingling stuff.

I am finishing up watching this right now on vh1. I couldn't wait to post. It is one of the best music docs i've seen. Loved it. Also love the new single.

    really cool documentary

i always liked the foos music but never followed them close enough throughout the years to know the whole story of the band members and all that... cool to hear about... and cool of the scorned ex band members to still be willing to participate in it... make me wonder if dave a. will be in the new crowe flick

i dont think its fair to say "recorded in a garage" when your garage is a legit fuckin studio

  • I am not really a fan of the Foo Fighters. I think they are just OK, but I thought the documentary was pretty good. The end seemed kind of like a commercial for the new album, but the rest was real good. I liked that people came across as being pretty honest about things. I liked it much better then the Lemmy documentary. I found that one to be too much of a fluff piece.

Pretty cool.... Yeah, there were definitely a few slightly tacky moments with the new tunes. I think he was talkin about Cobain and These Days is playin in the background. No big deal, I just kinda thought, "nice little plug for the new stuff there, but you really didn't have anything else to play?"

I think Wembley should've ended it and kept the recording a separate thing. It just seemed like the peek of the movie and the rest was added on after, anyway.

Dave seems a little more douchey, now. Pretty crappy thing he did to the drummer. I would think they could speak the same language or he coulda just showed him how he wanted it , or even just calling him up and letting him go.

Actually watching them play Wembley Stadium made me think, "Why hasn't Pearl Jam played there?" I guess the Foo Fighters have more hits.

As far as the drummer thing, the bottom line was the guy wasn't cutting it. I think that is why Taylor is in the band because he can actually play as well as Dave. The other guy couldn't.

    A) He coulda called him up and told him straight up what was goin on
    B) When you're trying to collaborate as a band "weaknesses" affect the sound as much as strengths. It's part of what makes a band sound like it does. It can't be a team effort AND Dave's band.

i give him credit for airing out that dirty laundry in the doc... they could've skipped some of the ugly stuff they shared... he admitted he was young and made mistakes (we all have), but they were all for the sake of the music... that being said, it seemed like will still had a lot of unanswered questions that dave should deal with since will was nice enough to participate in their movie

Just watched the doc this morning...I have followed Foo Fighters from the beginning. I thought that they covered the main points well...some of the stuff in there I didn't know. I would have liked some more insight on William Goldsmith, but it wasn't like they buried the topic either. It got just as much screen time as Taylor's drug problems. The one thing I thought they kind of glossed over was the "Million Dollar Demos" and the recording of both In Your Honor and Echos...but you can't have it all.

If you are a fan of the Foos...see it. For me, it brought back lots of cool memories I have as I grew up with them (I was 15 when thier first record dropped). I'll probably hit this up again when it hits DVD/Bluray.

I loved this documentry!!! I have always loved the Foos but I never really new much about them. When the doc was over I felt that I got to learn alot about the band's background and about each band member. Also the music in the movie was great!

Recently I've been getting really into the Foos, and was excited to see the documentary last night. Definitely didn't disappoint, for me. Some informative stuff, nice concert footage and cool behind the scenes footage from the making of Wasting Light. Interesting to see Dave & co talk about some stuff they normally don't elaborate on. Good stuff all in all!

It seems like the director wanted to keep the narrative going and most likely nothing interesting really happened during the making of In Your Honor and Echoes.

I think Dave's main problem with the firing of William and Frans is he should have talked to them in person. He was young back then though and would probably handle things better now, but he shouldn't have gone behind William's back, he should have told him up front. At least he's not an asshole like Billy Corgan who probably has no problem doing stuff like that.

Anyways I thought the documentary was great. It was cool to see the documentary come full circle with Nirvana in the beginning, then Dave/Krist/Pat/Butch together at the end.

What makes what he did any different? I mean Grohl lied to the guys face, no wait, he lied to the guy over the phone b/c he was to chickenshit to face him. I'm pretty sure when it went down like that with the Pumpkins they knew pretty soon after what the deal was. I suppose Goldsmith is finally getting an explanation, so long as he watches the movie and watches the mini love story between Grohl and Hawkins.

Yeah, I'm sure Billy Corgan is a much bigger dickbag overall compared to Grohl, but that doesn't take away any of the shittiness of what he did.

Franz was supposed to be a guy that he had all the respect in the world for? That doesn't deserve a face to face chat?

Just saw this doc yesterday for the first time and really enjoyed it. In fact, I would love if this PJ20 film was done in the exact same vein (the Behind The Music model). My favorite part was at the very end, after the credits, when Grohl says "I wish I had taken this shit more seriously back then because it's worst fucking band name ever."

Just watched it and enjoyed it a lot, got me back into the Foos a lot again. I haven't listened to them in quite awhile.
Has anyone heard when the official release is on dvd/Blu-ray for this? Is it coming out at the same time as the album or later?

Guess I should have posted this here instead of the Wasting Light thread. Can't delete the other post on my phone so I'll just copy and paste for now...

I wish they would have mentioned Dave doing TCV. They hit on him playing with Queens and Taylor obviously wasn't cool with that so I'm just curious what he thought about TCV.

Also I thought it was odd that they didn't mention that Pat was back with them on Wasting Light. He was just there again but no mention of him coming back. I've always liked Pat but from this doc I just wouldn't trust him enough to be in my band. He seems to change his mind too much to be a regular committed member.

yeah i agree with both... though i guess TCV fits into a more natural break in the foo fighters narrative than the QOTSA drama did... don't want to stray too far or go too far over 2 hours

it seems like they've found a good 3 guitar balance with this album as far as pat goes... but i'd still be kind of pissed/skeptical if i was chris... i guess they're all adult enough now to deal with those issues though

  • The VH1 and Palladia sites are driving me nuts b/c I can't find when they are re-airing this. Just turned on Palladia and its on but ending in 10 minutes.

Does anyone know when either of these channels are airing it again? This week at all?

    Thanks!

According to my DVR scheduler, it's going to be on:

    VH1 Classic Monday April 11th 8:00 PM

    MTV2 Tuesday April 12th 1:00 AM

Palladia Tuesday April 12th 9:00 PM

I just watched it and it's really good. I only planned to watch a few minutes tonight and watch the rest tomorrow but I literally couldn't stop watching and 2 hours just disappeared.
