I have a sick, sick kitty...

My little black cat, Foppa, was diagnosed over the weekend with a bladder disorder that is going to have him in and out of the animal hospital for the rest of his furry little days. Apart from this, Foppa's a healthy cat and as such I REFUSE to withhold treatment. If he isn't treated, he dies, and that just doesn't seem fair.

But I'm um...not rich. And veterinary care is so, so expensive. So my friend had this bright idea that I try a little online fundraising for Foppa's care. It hurts my pride a bit, to be sure, but what the hell, right? I know with Vedder shows and PJ20 there isn't a lot of spare fundage around these parts but if you can spare even a dollar I can promise you it'll be put to good use. And if you can pass this around, that would be awesome too.

Go here to check it out: http://bit.ly/gDcyPA

Thanks all :)

Awwww that's sad, I have a little black cat and I love him even though he's evil and comes from the pits of hell. It seems that boy cats in particular have lots of problems with their urination and bladder dont' they? I can't afford very much but I'll see what I can do.

I'm a sucker for this kind of thing too; animals capture my whole heart. I can hardly go into a pet store these days, I seem to justify every reason to adopt every pet that needs a home. I hope your kitty is ok and THANK YOU for being a responsible pet owner and doing the right thing. It will work out.

I am so sorry for you and your kitty. I had a similar experience this year. My baby boy (chocolate lab) Vedder, was diagnosed with cancer. I didn't even think about the cost. We did everything we could for him, specialists, ultrasounds, meds, chemotherapy, blood transufusions, ICU, etc. A little over $10,000 later we lost him. I know that I did everything I could for him and I'm sure he appreciated it. I wish the best for you and your kitty. Sending positive vibes from Newark to Wilmington!

Yeesh. I feel for ya. I've got a cat and would be so sad if that happened to her. Hope everything works out.

This just makes me wanna grab my cat and hug her to death to a point where she rips herself out of my arms.

  • Don't feel bad about not being able to drop thousands of dollars at the vets office. I realize that vets are professionals, but I really wish there were "low cost" clinics for pets. Although a person can afford the "everyday" expenses of shots, food, etc., it's really hard to come up with hundreds to sometimes thousands of dollars for a big illness (just like it is when we get seriously sick). I'm really sorry your little friend is sick and I hope he gets better soon! Good luck!!!

What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. One of my furchildren underwent surgery in December and we are still paying it off, with a credit card from CareCredit. The good thing is it's interest-free for 6 months. Here is their website: http://www.carecredit.com/vetmed/ .

Also, my cat used to have recurring bladder issues, until I put her on Cosequin for Cats. It contains glucosamine, which helps repair the bladder lining. Amazon has the cheapest price. Hugs to your kitty.
My last message to you ~

You're right. You are a monster! You are sick! Get help!

    At least, I am not a fuck-up! A lying fuck-up!

Kat or Sea, is there any way we could get this stickied? She has a set goal of $3,000 on her donation website and if this was a high traffic thread I bet we could reach that goal in under a month.

Reaching this goal could be a matter of life or death.

There hasn't been a donation for two days now.

Can we please have this thread sticked? I can keep posting this same message until the cows come home mods.

I was able to badger one of the Flyers into tweeting the link and I ended up with 150+ new twitter followers and not a single donation

It's cool though, times are tough. I'm honestly just overwhelmed by the kindness I've seen from strangers like you. So thanks :)

I hope Foppa can lead a happy life. :) I have a 17 year old furchild named Early and he is totally awesome and I love him so much. He's getting older and he recently has gone blind (I think it's glaucoma) but there's nothing that can be done about it short of thousands of dollars for surgery, and I just can't do it. I was told that cats adapt well to blindness, and he does pretty good (his whiskers act as antennaes and he kind of walks around like a bumper car). But he's still Early. He has moved around with me everywhere over the years and is totally laid back and I feel so bad for him that he has lost his sight. But nothing beats love in an animal's life, and I'm sure you can't stand to see Foppa suffer (bladder infections can be painful) . I really hope he'll be alright (I can't remember if Foppa is a boy or a girl). Best wishes.
