I thought you would like that Newch. It seems like you are the guy that started the "Eddie play Hartford" push, so everyone knows you are going to be there.

    BTW... rollcall updated, and bump.

I went thru priceline on the weekend.

Was initially trying for 3.5 star (Marriott i believe)...anway bid as high as $110 a night with no luck.

Dropped it down to 3 stars, bid $55 and it was immediately accepted (Crowne Plaza).

For anyone planning on going priceline (3 stars, downtown), i'd suggest starting around $45...i'm sure you will be able to score it for less than my $55.

    awesome... thanks for tip!!

btw... just tried $46 for a 3 star in downtown and got shut out... i'll update when i try again at a later date! 8-)

No worries...not sure if you know, but there is a way to actually be able to bid again right away without having to wait 24 hours.

Basically if your 1st bid is rejected (assuming 3 star, downtown Hartford), the trick is to add a 2nd location that does not have a 3 star hotel option (don't quote me here but i believe that the best you can get in East Hart and Hart South is 2.5 stars).

So you could in theory go right back and bid $50 on a 3 star in Downtown Hartford and say East Hartford....priceline will not stick you in East Hartford since there are no hotels there that fit your bid criteria (3 stars).

Not sure if any of this is making any sense...had a few after work...but i've done it before when i've been too impatient to wait a few days and it does the trick.

LOL... yes it makes a lot of sense... i have a lot of experience w/ Priceline name your own... but i have never done that... looked for an area without a three star option as my add on and just upped the bid by like $3!! Yay! Great idea!! AIthough... I am in no rush... i figure we are still over two months out... I'll probably go a few bucks up in a few days.

Thanks for that little tip to beat the priceline system... ;)
  • I'll be there! Can't wait!

(And I'll be staying with family in Woodbury, which sounds like way less fun than hanging out with 10 clubbers)

Rollcall updated. Also, I just booked The Crowne Plaza on Priceline for $55. They also have free parking. I had booked the Hilton earlier for $103, but you had to pay $18 to park. I cancelled the Hilton reservation. May be a little longer walk, but still within walking distance. Also, there is a free shuttle that goes around downtown, and stops at the Crowne Plaza.

Based on what google pulled up it only looks like a 15-20 minute walk (Crowne Plaza to Bushnell Ctr)...is that accurate?
