And while I think the ticket price is ridiculous I am going to see him for the 3rd and 4th time this summer. So I think it is worth it, especially if you sit up front. I can never get close to the stage for the entire band since my 10C is high (unless I miraculously win the lottery) but here it is all random. That's what convinced me to go to both NY shows instead of just one.
I was just looking up Neil Young tickets in Chicago at the Chicago Theater and main floor is about $250 (not counting taxes and fees). I just paid $168 for TWO tickets (probably, hopefully main floor) to see Ed.
Thank you Ten Club for doing your best to take care of us.
I'm not lost, but I don't know where I am...David Byrne, Talking Heads

So now we know what we have to look forward to. Just because you're getting older doesn't mean you should be able to charge that much. What happened to the good ole' days, Uncle Neil? Those prices kind of contradict what you preach.

Wait...do some of you ACTUALLY see Ed as just 1/5 of Pearl Jam?
You do realize, he is worth much more to the band than the 20% he represents, by number right
Sorry, but 40% of Pearl Jam playing average songs, cant touch what Ed does on that stage by himself...regardless of price.
Yes. Yes I do. I am in love with Pearl Jam. To me 'Pearl Jam' has always meant this: A pearl is created from individual particles of dirt coming together and forming something beautiful. A pearl is a miracle. Ed, Stone, Jeff, Mike and Matt are a bunch of dirt bags that came together and created something beautiful, something unlike anything else in the world.
To deify individual members is unhealthy and, i would venture to guess, not looked highly upon by the band. Didn't Eddie say, more than once, he didn't want to become bigger than the music?

It's a decent chunk of change, but if you can afford to shell out the money you probably won't regret it by the end of the night. I've never seen an Eddie solo show (I live in the South, and I think the guys in Pearl Jam have a collective allergy to warm weather haha), but I saw Ben Folds play a solo gig about 10 years ago and had a blast. I agree with the other posters on here - a solo show is about so much more than the music.
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.
go see jersyey boys at the Orpheum then .. tickets are only $75
Jethro tull .. tickets on lower level are $100
west side story ...$75

Sounds like a good deal to see eddie in a small venue in your market ...

I wish the tickets in my cart wouldn't have expired so I could have paid under 100 a ticket to see the show in Chicago. Now, who knows how much it will cost or if I'll be able to afford it at all. When in my position, $94 seems like a nice problem to have. Enjoy the show.

$94.24 per ticket for the Minneapolis show. Wow!
And that's probably cheaper than some of the other shows.
94 bucks is a lot of money to see one fifth of Pearl Jam.
This show better change my life... or at least be good enough to make me forget how much I paid for it.

Have no problem paying $94 a ticket. Back when artists could sell millions of records, it is much easier to keep ticket prices down. The margin has to come from somewhere. Most band surviving are the ones that can draw. There are some acts I will pay for and some I won't. Eric Clapton is another one I'd pay a lot to see, as long as he doesn't bring Steve Winwood again...
Plus the Santa Barbara show has some $55 tickets in the upper levels
Going to be an amazing show at the Wiltern in LA
However, the tickets are WAY too expensive....
pJ tickets are around the same cost as this tour. Except, when pJ tours....they need to rent bigger venues (Wiltern vs. LA Forum), less gear, less food, less lodging, smaller crew...
This is just saying...why charge $40, when I can charge $80?
it's just what usually happens when you're in the same successful gig for 20 years in America...you make more money. Not all solo artists charge this much $ though..look at Jeff Tweedy or Gene Ween..I personally go to PJ shows to watch Stone play with Jeff and Matt, and Eddie. The band is all grown up, concerns are about family now, and Ed's probably wants to do whatever it takes to provide a financially sound future for his kids...I mean, I see where he's coming from, I guess.
the other thing I can see, is that if he charged say, $50, there would be droves of people selling them above face. So Ed would rather have that money not go to scalpers. just a thought...anyway, it'll probably be a great show for big PJ fans.

I paid less than $30 to see Pearl Jam at Randall's Island in 1996.
Randalls Island New York 9/29/96 - Oakland Coliseum Oakland California 11/15/97 - MSG New York New York 09/10/98 - Key Arena Seattle Washington 11/05/00, 11/06/00 - PNC Bank Arts Center Holmdel New Jersey 7/14/03 - Tweeter Center Camden New Jersey 5/28/06, MSG New York New York 06/25/08, Spectrum Arena Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 10/27/09
My $81 for Detroit was fair I think, compared to the crazy ass prices a lot of acts charge for shows in huge buildings. Ed will be worth it, I have no doubt!
1) Neil Young costs a lot more, and EV solo is better. No offence to Neil.
2) If the price was too high TC tix wouldn't have been such a bitch to get.
3) It's worth it b/c he's one of the best artists around.
4) If the price was $300/ticket I probably wouldn't be going.
5) I think the price is too low. This will be my 4th Ed show. If the price was $200-300 I'd maybe see 1 show.
Im not saying I wont enjoy the show, it's just that I used to be able to tell ppl that PJ and Eddie were awesome to their fans, and for the most part they still are, and were nt in it for the money. I can't say that anymore when I have to follow the statement up with the fact that I havent paid less than 70 bucks to see PJ or eddie in more than 8 years.

I spend 115/mo on cable that I seldom watch. A lot of fans still smoke a pack a day or drink a 6 pack a day. In the grand scheme of it all this is very little money for something you don't have the opportunity to do very often. I don't know what my ceiling is for PJ/EV but I haven't hit it yet for concerts. Merchandise is another story.

the band/Ed are not becoming greedy. it's called inflation. do you still pay the same price for everything else today that you did in 1996? no, you don't. do you still get paid the same? no, you don't. or at least, I HOPE you don't. should your boss sit you down and tell you "you know, I used to like your morals, now you're jacking me for everything I've got"?
I've never understood why people have always been so proud to put PJ on a pedestal about the TM thing, and now that they charge prices people aren't ok with, they are "embarassed" about it. I thought it was about their MUSIC, not how much money they save you.
A buddy of mine paid $300 to see the Eagles stand in one spot for 2 hours sounding exactly like the albums. Now THAT'S outrageous.

The prices of these tickets have inflated more than the national inflation average. In 1996 paid 85 cents for a 20 oz soda and 2.45 for a gallon of milk. Now I pay 1.25 and 3.25 (give or take) respectively. So don't give me that inflation garbage.
I understand they still sell tickets for less than SOME of the other upper-echelon bands (U2, The Eagles, Neil Young, The Who, Robert Plant), and that's why I can tolerate the prices.

It's still crazy to pay that much. Where I live, you couldn't get people to pay that much to meet the fuckin pope. But I am crazy, crazy for PJ and Eddie and the rest of the boys. So I tolerate the prices. I think the more they charge, the more I get a bad taste in my mouth, and the longer that happens the more likely I am to stop going to shows.

It's still crazy to pay that much. Where I live, you couldn't get people to pay that much to meet the fuckin pope. But I am crazy, crazy for PJ and Eddie and the rest of the boys.
