Looks like you got me there! Unreal. I would love to meet these people that would wipe the floor with Obama. Again, I have no allegiance; I take an objective stance as best as I can, and form what I see, the Right is clearly showing their true colors: support the haves, screw the have nots. Everyone deserves a chance, not just the rich and the corporate. The Right is continuing the deranged tactics found in Reaganomics--and if you want to debate Reaganomics, I read books on Reaganomics for fun--and it has led to the destruction of the lower class (actually expanding it) and has led to the destruction of the Middle class. And before I get labeled in any incorrect way, it's not about spreading the wealth, it's about giving everyone an equal opportunity to succeed in life.

The question of the original post was basically "is this legal?". Whether or not it was the "right" thing to do ain't the point, which is a whole other topic. The president does not have the power under the constitution to authorize an unprovoked attack on a foreign country no matter if it is morally good or bad. We have rules and the whole idea of this country is that no one is above the rules.
If the world stepped back and watched the opponents of Gaddafi being butchered as he had already started doing and did nothing that would have been a crime IMHO. By now we would have been discussing the bloodbath in Benghazi and why we did nothing. Tunisia's and Egypt's presidents quit because of the protests. Now we need to watch what happens in Syria which is another matter entirely. It seems that the people in that region have had enough of their dictators.
That is what I was trying to say! UN resolution is different than a single country deciding to invade another. The whole point of a UN resolution is to act quickly as a united force.all you need is love, love is all you need0 -

Washington, DC, March 11, 2011-The U.S. corporate tax rate will soon become the highest in the industrialized world, and is already in its 20th year of being above the average for similar economies, according to a new analysis by the Tax Foundation. As other nations enact reforms and rate cuts, the U.S. corporate rate will continue to stand out as a hindrance to economic growth and competitiveness unless lawmakers move to lower the tax burden for businesses.
The combined federal and state rate of 39.2 percent of corporate profits is exceeded only by Japan, whose rate stands at 39.5 percent. When Japan enacts planned cuts next month, however, the United States will have the highest rate of all of the economies in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the group of 34 advanced countries with economies most comparable to the U.S.
As far as entitlments go. They also are bankrupting our country they have become unsustainable. Look it up

Ok, first of all, the Tax Foundation is a non-profit lobbyist group set up to make sure corporate taxes remain low. One of its main objectives is to get legislation passed at the federal level that would allow business-to-business taxes become tax-exempt for non-profit entities, especially hospitals. Such legislation would restrict States from being able to apply sales taxes to transactions between – for example – pharmaceutical products to hospitals. Its VP is the Chief tax person for Eli Lilly, yeah that global pharmaceutical corporation. Just like the push by States to repel Health Care. Being a Judge nowadays seems more on who the highest bidder is, than the law, go figure.
Entitlement programs, are you talking about those programs you pay your taxes into that are supposed to be there for you, if for any reason you become unable to provide for yourself or your family? Those programs that you pay your taxes into that are supposed to be there for you when you retire and need the benefits of Medicaid and Medicare. Are you talking about those programs you pay your taxes into that should be there to provide you with assistance if you should become unemployed? Are these the entitlement programs you’re speaking of, because the Republicans/Tea Party doesn’t want to do away with them, they simply want to privatize them so they can be opened to trading on the stock market.
Or maybe you’re talking about those subsidizing entitlement programs under the Farm Bill that pays millions of dollars in benefits for non-producing farm land. Maybe you’re talking about that subsidizing entitlement program that pays millions of dollars in benefits to the energy industries. Maybe you’re talking about those tax loopholes that allow American corporations to claim ‘foreign’ tax status with a simple PO Box # and telephone #. Did you know that the UAE is on track in becoming the main stay for providing American corporation a tax heaven?
I asked you --
What have the Republicans/Tea Party constructively accomplished. They do a lot of talking, but where’s the concrete results of their actions that have benefited the American public?
YOU GOT NOTHING!!!!SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.0 -

the republicans are short sighted in the sense that they would rather cut tax dollars from going into those entitlements because they think that THEY will never ever need them. that they will be able to work forever or have enough money invested to live on once they are unable to work. it is a nice thought, but the majority of those republican citizens, not the politicians, who believe like this will be in the exact same situation financially as most of the elderly in the us today. it is the whole "it is not going to happen to me" line of thinking. well guess what, it is going to happen to them. as medical costs such as medications and office visits and procedures, and the inevitable surgeries we undergo as we age continue to increase, the vast majority of these clowns who are so adamently against medicare, medicaid, and social security now will be thanking their lucky stars for the subsidies once they reach retirement age.
the funny thing is we are just bleeding money away on military adventures in the middle east. if the country had that money back in the cofers we would not even be in this situation where we would have to debate cutting things like these necessary entitlement programs."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Why would any company pay a 35% tax rate when they can pay a half that rate in Ireland or Switzerland?

You do realize that when you raise the corporate tax rate, you encourage companies to move their headquarters abroad, right? I would totally be on board with raising or even maintaining our current tax rates on corporations if the all companies could not leave the US. The reality is we live in a globalized world where companies can shift to another country fairly easily (much, much easier than in the past). You can't keep companies here. They can move and their loyalty is not to the U.S., it's to maximizing shareholder wealth. Would they like to stay? Sure. But, will they stay if we double their tax costs? No.Here's a new demo called "in the fire":
