Long May You Run? Arc? I have no words. This must have been so incredible.
  • What did Better Days sound like? I mean, how did he play it since the studio version has a lot of different instruments?

    Thanks

It was brilliant... just amazing. I thought it was a good song when i heard the studio version but nothing spectacular (only listened to it once or twice though, in fact i can't even remember how it goes right now).
He had an old tape recorder and he just sang over it. No guitar or anything, just a mic. He sat down for most of it until the very end.
Really intense. My highlight of the night. He said he probably won't play it again but I hope he does.

I'm still reeling from last night in Newcastle. Ed gave us all more than we could've asked for and I won't forget it as long as I breathe. I traveled 10,000 miles (all the way from Minneapolis) to see him in that cool town, took my dad along, making a memory we will share forever. Each year I am lucky enough to travel overseas with him as he does a lot of business around the world. Our trips coincide with my Spring Break from teaching and every year I fly off to wherever he is and we always have the best time together. This year, I learned Australia was the place and soon after found out about Ed's tour. As I scrambled to get my pre-sale tickets, I began to imagine what lay ahead. Would I really be able to pull it off? Would my dad be as excited as I was? In the end, what I truly dreamed was that I would finally hear "Throw Your Arms Around Me" live. I love that song so incredibly much in the farthest reaches of my soul. I know, big dreams for a girl from the suburbs of Minneapolis.

This has been a tough year for me as I have watched my marriage come to an end and I have been faced with the scary notion of starting over at the age of 38. The feelings of failure and sadness can really do a number on you. Better Days has been a poignant and meaningful song in my life as you can imagine. Although I could see that Ed was not exactly pleased with how it turned out, I am eternally grateful to have heard it live. As the song went on, my feelings of fear and worry about the days and years ahead washed away. Thank you so much Ed for an amazing evening. As I sit in my hotel room back in Sydney, I know that life really isn't that bad and that I will be fine. I left the Civic Theatre knowing deep down that my future truly is paved with better days.

Cheers Australia! What a lovely country of interesting and kind people you are!

Nothing to do w MR. Totally random beautiful moment and unexpected. Maybe next time hold on the speculation and show some appreciation for all the good that was done for flood victims and that good brings good.

 Just broke my own rule of not reading the Setlist of a show I would've been at if the funds had stretched...

    ...RULE NOW PERMANENTLY RE-INTRODUCED!!!!!!

Hope you all enjoyed what looks like a wonderful night.

    Another Great night.

The crowd and the venue was superb. An old little theatre. Very intimate.

Ed's banter with the crowd was hilarious.

    Just another awesome setlist.

I didn't mention it from Canberra but Sometimes was great. Off he Goes was the highlight of the night for me. My seats were up in the dress circle but it was such a small theatre that you could see the expressions on Ed's face and to look down on his whole set was very cool.

Just another great night I'll never forget

    This was during hard sun:

As always, just the second verse.

Guys, I was happier to have met MR than EV, during the preparty. Granted, not exactly the first time with Ed.

I'm just hanging at my place, sending stuff back to my work's HR department back in London.

Making a couple of calls later today to see how the other lot who are still in Newy are doing. They should have left the apartment like 10 min ago. Will eventually make my way to the Criterion Hotel much later, corner Park and Pitt Streets. Usual pre-show drinking place before I left here.
