    What a great night!

The pre concert function was great, and my wife won a vinyl of Off he goes/dead man single in the raffle which was a bonus, and then to top it off the show was amazing.

Highlights were The End, everytime I hear this live it gets better, ARC blew me away, Porch and Better Days.
Wifey liked the version of Wishlist he played

His guitar was spot on. few whoopsys on the lyrics but you get that from Ed sometimes lol.

Only issue I had was being a 10C member for years now, row 19 tickets were a bit back there. My mate got 2 general tickets and scored row 3 or 4, I know they are random, but still...anyway............bring on Sydney!!

Maybe it was just me, but the sound was a shitload better in the civic theatre than in Canberra. Also good that the crowd kept the yelling folks at bay, which was an improvement.

Highlights for me were unthought known, MoW (again! So emotional, happy to see it once, let alone two nights in a row), and arc. I've heard it described as a religious experience, and I wholeheartedly agree with that.

    Bring on Sydney!

Every planet in the known universe must have been aligned last night. Probably even the unknown ones too, and all the asteroids and moons and whatever else is out there. That man (plus guests) in that room with that audience, on that night. Respect.

Thank you. Enjoy your journeys and be safe.

Better Days, Arc were stand outs for me. Has anyone got two tickets to any Sydney show? I'm still in the Newcastle area so could get to Sydney easily :)

  • What an awesome night! Sitting 3rd row in the dress circle, had a great view and the sound was incredible! So many highlights amongst the set list as well as Ed's banter. Loved his suggestions for uses for the vents in the back of the chairs amongst other ramblings :)

Long May You Run? Arc? I have no words. This must have been so incredible.
  • What did Better Days sound like? I mean, how did he play it since the studio version has a lot of different instruments?

    Thanks

It was brilliant... just amazing. I thought it was a good song when i heard the studio version but nothing spectacular (only listened to it once or twice though, in fact i can't even remember how it goes right now).
He had an old tape recorder and he just sang over it. No guitar or anything, just a mic. He sat down for most of it until the very end.
Really intense. My highlight of the night. He said he probably won't play it again but I hope he does.

I'm still reeling from last night in Newcastle. Ed gave us all more than we could've asked for and I won't forget it as long as I breathe. I traveled 10,000 miles (all the way from Minneapolis) to see him in that cool town, took my dad along, making a memory we will share forever. Each year I am lucky enough to travel overseas with him as he does a lot of business around the world. Our trips coincide with my Spring Break from teaching and every year I fly off to wherever he is and we always have the best time together. This year, I learned Australia was the place and soon after found out about Ed's tour. As I scrambled to get my pre-sale tickets, I began to imagine what lay ahead. Would I really be able to pull it off? Would my dad be as excited as I was? In the end, what I truly dreamed was that I would finally hear "Throw Your Arms Around Me" live. I love that song so incredibly much in the farthest reaches of my soul. I know, big dreams for a girl from the suburbs of Minneapolis.

This has been a tough year for me as I have watched my marriage come to an end and I have been faced with the scary notion of starting over at the age of 38. The feelings of failure and sadness can really do a number on you. Better Days has been a poignant and meaningful song in my life as you can imagine. Although I could see that Ed was not exactly pleased with how it turned out, I am eternally grateful to have heard it live. As the song went on, my feelings of fear and worry about the days and years ahead washed away. Thank you so much Ed for an amazing evening. As I sit in my hotel room back in Sydney, I know that life really isn't that bad and that I will be fine. I left the Civic Theatre knowing deep down that my future truly is paved with better days.

Cheers Australia! What a lovely country of interesting and kind people you are!
