Jeff Goldblum - Jurassic Park
I don't doubt he is a very nice dude, and it's nice that he is open to meeting fans occasionally, but if he really wanted to be fan friendly he would be more reasonable in his ticket pricing.0 -

I find him fan friendly.
Perhaps the problem is in the mirror?0 -
I just don't think he's charging more than other artists of his caliber. Dave Matthews for example. Why should he charge $30 a ticket like Chris Cornell only to have scalpers charge 4-5x that on eBay. I don't know about you but I'd rather that money go to the artist.09/16/95, 09/16/96, 06/29/98, 07/02/98, 07/05/98, 09/08/98, 09/10/98, 09/11/98, 09/18/98, 09/19/98, 06/13/99, 10/30/99, 10/31/99, 05/29/00, 05/30/00, 10/14/00, 10/17/00, 10/18/00, 11/05/00, 10/20/01, 10/21/01, 12/06/02, 04/05/03, 04/06/03, 06/09/03, 10/22/03, 09/24/04, 05/12/06, 05/13/06, 05/27/06, 05/28/06, 07/22/06, 07/23/06, 06/11/08, 06/12/08, 08/01/08, 09/21/09, 09/22/09, 10/04/09, 05/03/10, 05/04/10, 05/06/10, 05/07/10, 07/02/11, 09/03/11, 09/04/11, 10/23/11, 11/15/13, 11/16/13, 10/19/14, 10/25/14, 10/26/14, 11/28/15, 04/23/16, 08/05/16, 08/07/16, 09/09/17, 08/18/18, 09/02/18, 09/04/18, 10/01/21, 10/02/21, 05/06/22, 05/07/22, 05/12/22, 05/13/22, 08/31/23, 09/02/23, 09/13/23, 09/15/23, 09/18/23, 09/19/23, 05/16/24, 08/29/24, 08/31/24, 09/15/24, 09/17/24, 04/29/25, 05/01/25, 05/16/25, 05/18/250

In the 90s they were careful to keep ticket prices down and it probably meant they left a ton of cash on the table. Now they do not do that... they price to a point where they'll sell tickets well, but they are not leaving much on the table anymore.
I'm not saying its right or wrong, but at some point that's what I've come to accept. I get annoyed with people who blame the increases on gas and whatnot because thats just trying to rationalize without any real basis/facts, but I guess over the last 8 years you can see they've changed their business models from merchandising to the ten club to concert tickets.
I'm also not going to say if you don't like it quit the TC like many do... its a fair argument to wonder why he charges so much more than many full bands when its a solo show. I mean... he's raking in serious cash on these shows between tickets and merch.
I guess at the end its an argument where both sides have valid points and threre's no real endgame...just round and round and round it goes with arguing over why tickets are so expensive and what that says about the band.0 -

I'm not in the industry, but I imagine it costs A LOT more to play a place like the Auditorium Theater in Chicago than it does to play the Showbox.
Tres Mts could play a bigger or nicer venue and charge $50, but who's gonna pay it?Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

I think that might play a role in the price difference, but it cant be THAT big of difference. If you're talking a $55-$65/ticket difference, a lot of that has to be profit doesn't it? Especially when Tres Mts is 4 people and EV is just one...0 -
I find 78 bucks to be pretty cheap to see an amazing artist , compared to the prices of other artist an shows that rape your pocket. I think its quite fan friendlyContinental Arena - Jun 03, 2006

If he sells out most or every show, why would he lower the price? They'll just get scooped up and scalped for that much more anyhow. Additionally (and for that reason), it will be exponentially more difficult for you to get a ticket at face value. Technology being what it is, there ain't many bargains to be had. Time to be a big boy and face it.0 -

$78 is the price a night out in any city in America would run you (not including dinner). And chances are if you are on this board you'll never forget that night for the rest of your life. So, please...cry me a river. It really isn't even worth debating.0

In reality if any of you went to work today and your boss said to you, you can make $200 or you can make $50 to do the exact same amount of work I bet 100% of you would say 'OK, I want to make $200'. Honestly when you factor in where that money comes from, does the equation change all that much?{if (work != 0) {
work = work + 1;
sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
else if (work >= 0) {
reality.equals(false);
work = work +1;
}system("pause");
return 0;}0 -
The bottom line is, if you are against the price of the tickets then just don't go. Gives everyone else who doesn't think the price is outrageous a better chance at obtaining tickets. Be thankful we have the opportunity and at a fair price. Also think to yourself well at least we aren't being charged hundreds of dollars for tickets like other musicians like lady gaga, Elton John, etc.0
