I am surprised no one brought this up yet

too bad someone else had to lose their job because of the actions of an idiot. I don't understand why the comments made by one person suddenly are representative of the entire organization.
anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

that’s right! Can’t we all just get together and focus on our real enemies: monogamous gays and stem cells… - Ned Flanders

Some guy said some stupid stuff during a luncheon and they basically fire the CEO?
Exactly. Besides, they have one talented person. Terry Gross is perhaps the best interviewer on the planet.

at the risk of getting into one of the tea party is so awful arguments...no he wasn't
that being said, right or wrong, it doesn't matter, she shouldn't have been forced to resign because of something said by a dumb employee.
I could see if it was an executive that said something like "we are trying to portray all tea party members as racists to damage their credibility"...that would be something
but he didn't and she didn't deserve what she got

i agree
In fact, what Juan Williams said was actually a racist comment. THAT is outrageous. It's different than an executive accusing a party of having racist people (which it does by the way). Being racist and accusing others of being racist, even if incorrect, are two total different things. And what Juan Williams did was despicable. I'm glad he was fired.
And saying you feel nervous when seeing a Muslim on a plane is akin to saying you feel nervous when seeing a black man near a jewelry shop.
Well, I know this will make a lot of you squirm, but the fact of the matter is that a bunch of Muslims killed thousands of Americans with airplanes on 9-11. I'm sorry, but that's not racist....that's a FACT! (unless you buy into that whole truther Van Jones BS, of course).
Good point. Facts can be quite inconvenient, can't they?
I'm guessing from your post that you're a military man. Not being one myself, I say with great humility: thank you, sir, for your service.

Does this mean if a black man robs a jewelry shop then we should all feel nervous when seeing black people around jewelry shops?[/quote]
Of course not...this equation is nonsense. News flash: it was not one Muslim who killed Americans on 9-11....it was many acting together. And robbery is not terrorism. Are you seriously equating robbing a jewelry store with murdering thousands of people?
yeah, that was the point...
seriously, I think the point was this; if you're going to be scared of all Muslims based on 9/11, the you should you should be scared of all black man if one robs a jewelry store...
I know it's a hard concept...but he poster was simply using your flawed logic....
Nice.
When was the last time there was a flightline in America? Or a firefight including a foreign enemy? I know exactly where Bosnia is. What does that matter?
Why is it so hard to understand that the thinking that posters like Heidi and Electric Delta have provoke extremists?
Why is it so wrong to not want American or international soldiers fighting in deserts for no good reason?
There has to be a better way to fight extremism. It starts with getting the moderates on our side. You don't do that by blowing up their families. And you don't do that by being racist towards their peaceful people living amongst you.
I have never advocated any of the terrible things you mentioned and I'm offended, frankly. I think you single out people like me because I have a dissenting opinion and I have the courage to express it. You have no right to put me in the same category as any extremist. Who do you think you are, exactly?
You didn't read it properly. I said your way of thinking provokes extremists. But clearly your comprehension skills lack the wherewithal to understand how that could be possible.
And I'm not equating robbery with murder, I'm equating bigotry, racism, and discrimination with bigotry, racism, and discrimination.
She had egg on her face from the William's firing and the fact that she let one of her right-hand men walk into an ambush ... an ambush that could cost NPR hundreds of millions of dollars ... suggests she is not fit to run NPR's operations.
Well, if you check your facts, it was more than 19 Muslims that planned and carried out 9-11. 19 was just the number that made it on the plane. And your jewelry store robbery thing still doesn't pan out with me. All sorts of people rob jewelry stores: black, white, Asian, men, women, etc. How many groups of people fly airplanes into buildings? Hmmmm let me think. Oh, wait! I can only think of one group that currently engages in that type of murderous behavior. But I dare not speak its name, lest I be labeled a bigot.
You've obviously never read the Constitution, nor any of it's amendments. If you've been in a firefight, then you've taken the same oath as me: "I do solemly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic"
Apparently, you don't understand that people who point a weapon at you are not "your friends." I don't care what color you are: you've obviously never been responsible to anyone other than yourself. The next time that you knock on a mother's door to tell her that, because of your decisions, her son is dead, will be your first time. This ain't about you, shitbag. This is about the United States. You tell that mother why her boy died. It may seem callous, but would you rather lie to her?
