Thanks for all the replies !

I was looking at airfare last night..with all of us getting a ticket it will be a $1,000 to fly to Florida

    :o

So much for saving money with our timeshare

    :(

prices doubled last week. i paid 240 rt for our flights from chicago (ohare) to san fran two weeks ago. last week the prices were 500, yesterday it was 440 and today it's down to 420.....prices are all per person.

    it's crazy how airfare works.

As soon as there was talk fuel prices going up, airfares skyrocketed--it's been ridiculous. then, on the flip side, I booked a flight yesterday from Philly-Munich for April 11 for only $750, which is a great price...this stuff makes my job waaaaay interesting!!

Yeah there is no way to know when these rates will change

I hear all the time people have theories when to log on and look

I can't wait to have my own airline.
Nobody under the age of 10 will be able to fly.

Oh, and nobody over the age of 70...and nobody over 250 lbs either.

    Yep.

Question for the Parents out there that have taken flights with a 1 year old

Did you get the 1 year old a seat or just keep the baby on your lap ?

We will be flying to Florida in August it's a little over 2 hrs not sure if we should get her a seat or not

Airfare is getting really high so that might sway my decision

my son was 9 months old when i first flew with him. he sat on my lap.
    hear my name
    take a good look
    this could be the day
    hold my hand
    lie beside me
    i just need to say

My sons first flight was when he was 13months old and it was just under 2hrs. He was booked to sit on my lap, but airline actually put all the families together and gave us extra seats for free!!!

Advice from my gp was to give him demazin/dimetapp once a day for the week before and after the flight.

Use a soft saline nasal spray and take it onboard as well.

Have lots of things to suck on during take off and the decent to landing. As he was only baby still I wasn't keen on the idea of lollies or lollipops, so I put chocolate milk in a bottle as I knew he wouldn't knock that back if he refused a breastfeed!

If your bub uses a pacifier/dummy then keep that on hand too.

We chose the lap for our 1 year old when we flew. It was a breeze. We had a sippy cup, snacks, toys, and made sure he was nursing, drinking or had the soother at take off and landing. It was much easier then carrying on the car seat and cheaper then paying for a seat!

Love this. I'd pay top dollar for a seat on your plane

On my flight home from my honeymoon I got stuck sitting next to some lady that lapped her newborn. The kid didn't stop screaming the entire flight. I was seriously considering jumping out of the plane. I didn't even care if I had a parachute. Worst flight ever. I felt like elaine sitting next to vegetable lasagne...only worse
