Actions have consequesnces. Commutation still shows she was legally wrong in the this data dump. She admits so. Said so during trial and pled guilty without benefit of a plea deal. Shows just how vindictive the government can be. Heres to hoping these last few months are easier on her than the previous 7 years.EM194007 said:
Why should he do anything? Obama didn't give Manning a Pardon/Clemency. Big difference between a Pardon/Clemency and a Commutation.CM189191 said:Your move Julian

Trust me, I know the difference very well. By CM189191 stating next move Julian above, he is saying that Assange should turn himself in. That wasn't the deal, Commutation. It was he would turn himself in if a Pardon/Clemency was given.mickeyrat said:

Clemency under the criminal justice system is the act by an executive member of government of extending mercy to a convicted individual. In the United States, clemency is granted by a governor for state crimes and by a president for federal crimes. Clemency can take one of three forms: a reprieve, a commutation of sentence, or a pardon0 -
Commutation means your let out of jail with all charges still on your record, Commutation does not void the conviction. A Pardon/Clemency the convicted offender is forgiven of the crime and its penalty. Nice try, but two huge differences.CM189191 said:

Just last Thursday, anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks, the recipient of materials from Manning, tweeted that its founder Julian Assange would agree to extradition if Manning was released.

Sounds like. Assange is ready for the broomsticks.JC29856 said:Wow....Assange says he will serve time in prison if Obama grants Manning clemency.
Not many humans walking the earth would offer that exchange, especially knowing the broomsticks that are literally waiting for his ass.
Assange attorney:
Manning extradition 'deal': "Everything that he has said he's standing by."0 -
as was noted above Clemency isnt commutation. Which is what Assange was "trading" for.JC29856 said:

Ah-ha. Well well, Assange in prison, eh? It's certainly an interesting side note to the Manning saga. I wonder how much impact Assange's little promise had on the decision?? I guess he needs to assume a whole lot if he wants to sleep well at night.CM189191 said:
