If Radiohead can play smaller venues, like the mini tour they did in the summer of 2006, than Pearl Jam can do it too. I saw Radiohead at the Tower theater that year and it was worlds better than when i saw them in Camden in 2003.
Agreed. I saw Radiohead at the MSG theater on that tour (a week after i saw E. Rutherford 2!), and while not as nice as the Tower or the Beacon, it was cool to see them in a small venue.
Nine Inch Nails did a fanclub show at the Key Club Morengo Casino in Cabazon, CA back in 2006. one of the best shows i have ever seen. i think it held like 800 people. you had to be in the fanclub to buy your 2 tickets, and you had to pick them up at the venue on the day of the show. so great.
Pearl Jam could easily do the same thing. Maybe do one on the east coast and one on the west coast. i would like to nominate the showbox.

Yeah, between Radiohead, Nine Inch, and others this should be done.
In DC i vote for the 9:30 Club.

If they are small and reserved, there is less energy in the room
tell that to the Astoria crowd :eek:
It matched Dublin and Copenhagen... topped Verona, Wembley, lolla and the Vic... for crowd energy and intensity.
The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
Chicago 07? And love
What a different life

Neil Young, Bob Dylan and REM have all played a few nights in a row at tiny venues (cap: 1000ish) in Dublin.
Perhaps I should write to Neil, Bob and Michael and tell them to speak to Ed.

I know the logistics would be tough and they would have to play many small venues to fit all ticket requests but it would be worth it in my opinion. One of the best shows I attended was last year in Athens, GA. The Killers were set to play a festival show in Atlanta but played a club show at The 40 Watt the night before. They opened up to fan club memebers only. No tickets were involved. We were made aware of the show via e-mail, only allowed two 'tickets', no transfers. Got in line at the show, had to have ID and e-mail confirmation in hand at front door. We were given wristbands. No chance for scalpers to get their hand on wristbands. Every person in there was a fan and it was amazing. It was like a 2 hour sing-a-long. No pushing, no shoving, just real fans enjoying a VERY unique opportunity. Check out the link to have a little taste of what it was like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOrukMioXZc
I've heard from people that the 40 Watt Club is pretty sweet. Mudhoney played a show there late last year

After the Camden show the drunk frat boys felt it was "cool" to cut line on the ferry back to Philadelphia. Don't they get the message PJ is trying to convey?
How long do we need these types?
No because MOST of them are pig-headed frat boys. The most unappreciative "stupid" (like in DTE) human beings. They think they are so cool and previlaged because they were coming out of a Pearl Jam concert. I don't think that these guys get any message that PJ convey's. Ed could just burp in the mic for 5 minutes and these guys would cheer. I can't believe that I am going to say this, but seems like Philly crowd is so rude. Pushing and shoving to get into the venue, what animals. Just because PJ wrote a song with that title doesn't mean you have to be one.
Here’s a question you might need to ask
What’s self destruction and how can we last?
"I cannot stop the thought of running in the dark.
Coming up a which way sign. All good truants must decide."

Actually, they weren't. There were no 10c tix sold for those two shows. I remember feeling like I won the lottery when I scored 1 GA for night 1...
Actually, there were a limited number of fan club tix for the borgata. 10 club had a lottery and there were a few winners, but for the most part it was a non fan club show.
Ben Harper recently toured playing small houses like Warner Theatre in DC, and the show was amazing.
More importantly the meatheads stayed home.

Better yet in DC while Eddie was speaking of off shore drilling before ripping into GD (perfect preface for that song) some dumb chick yells "shut up and play".
How long do we need these types?
The Camden venue is a pit. The drunk, white hat Rutger's frat kids are way out of control. I'll never go there again.
The problem with small venues is the fan club members get shut out of buying tickets through the club. Just look at The Vic, Borgata and Eddie solo venues.
107 total First-Summerfest, Milwaukee '95 Most recent: 2018 Stadium shows: Seattle 2, Missoula, Fenway 1 and 2; 2022: Oakland 1 and 2
Or better yet, why haven't we serenaded the band yet? Think of how awesome it would be to break out into Elderly Woman, thus welcoming THEM to the stage.
I gotta say, I LOVEEE that idea. how sweet would that be?!

rutgers is in Newark
no offense here, but I find that south jersey/philly shows always have the most annoying fans in attendance-just my experience from years of hitting the camden, spectrum, starland, wachovia, TLA and electric factory shows.
Camden venue is ok. I like it. Not my fav, but not the worst. Cops keep it manageable. The lawn is a mess anywhere you go. Thats why I wont do GA anymore, anyplace. Dodge center in Hartford is the worst experience with that lot and the effing overpass or whatever it is.

Yeah, the cops did a real good job there in Camden, just take a look at this thread:
Out of all the venues I've been to, Camden is the absolute worst place for concerts. Shitty sound and plenty of assholes there.
I wasn't going to go back after 2003, but went this year since it was the closest venue with 2 show. I hope Pearl Jam quits doing shows there so I am not tempted to ever go back again.

I know all about that thread, Ive posted my views on that.
I dont mind it. the cops suck yes, its highly structured yes there are assholes there yes Its camden yes.
But Ive never had a problem or bad time there and they have put on some damn good shows there.
Of course, I would never sit on the lawn or in non-10c seats.
It is, true that music is for everyone, not just people who pay 25 bucks a year to be part of the cool kids club.
That being said a 10c only, small venue tour with a few shows in each city depending on the size of market WOULD be VERY COOL. Awesome Rarity filled setlists for the hardcores, imagine a full tour of the Vic/Benaroya style setlists.

work = work + 1;
sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
else if (work >= 0) {

return 0;}
Also how cool would a white out be. Next tour all club members should wear white to the shows.

just imagine....

There are drunk, obnoxious people in the fan club too.
Trust me.
I've been a member for about 10 years and in Hartford the guy ahead of me was passed out COLD. How, I'll never know, but I could've smashed a beer bottle over his face and he wouldn't had woken up he was so drunk. Sadly, this guys seats were a row ahead of mine, so there are drunked idiots within the 10c too as has been said...

Membership is now $20 and so worth it for many reasons: Christmas vinyl, pre-sales and comraderie are just a few good points.

That's what I want to see. The band could just do a couple set each day, and maybe throw in a late night set.
I'm thinking more like the festivals that Phish has had.
