Its all just stupid internet talk. I guarantee you if there was such a festival, the majority of the people would have a great time enjoying both bands.
i for one wouldn't enjoy watching stp. that def be my piss/beer run. thankfully that washed up act thats called stp won't be anywhere near the pj20 bash.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
STP had their day. They haven't made relevant/quality music in 10 plus years. Even their hits are so few/far between that I never need to hear any of them again. I am all for wiping their contribution to popular music from the proverbial slate. I have seen STP live also and was highly disappointed. Very cookie cutter type of setlist and it lasted just over an hour and a half. I'll take Eddie and the boys 10 times out of 10 over those self-absorbed douchebags in STP.

STP's fans don't bother me...doesn't matter. PJ folks can be pretty snobby and we really don't have a good reputation with other band's diehards in general I think. Of course, a few bad apples spoil the barrel.
My first exposure to this I suppose was at Bonnaroo. Some of you may remember this. We were in the line for the pit (actually we got front row), had been there all day and as the show approached line-breakers started showing up during Jack Johnson's set. The situation got fairly tense and after a while security finally came and removed a couple of dudes who we quite boisterously pointed out as the prime breakers. Well as they were led away the chant of 'Na Na, Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye' started amongst us....I was shocked to read the next week that's Jack's fans were all fired up talking about the ignorant PJ fans chanting during his set....as if it was directed toward....I remember reading some very interesting comments about that from Jack diehards
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

You do realize many outside of this board could say the same about Pearl Jam? That is if they even know PJ still makes music and tours.

I would say most people think that. Which is the real reason why Pearl Jam only does mini-tours in their home base cities.

My experience with PJ fan snobbiness comes from KC 2010. Standing in line for 10C tickets. Wife and I start up a conversation with a couple of fans in line in front of us. The subject of 10C numbers comes up. As soon as they found out I was 262xxx, the conversation was over. Because then it was all about them and how they could never sit that far back and how they have been in the 10C for 15 years or whatever and how many shows they have been to and with a number that low they go to as many as they can, asking why even bother traveling with such a low number. It was really rude and we felt like 2nd class citizens. I am sure plenty of fans have met other "fans" like this.
I used to think Speedy was being cynical when he talks about how it is all about the tickets with most people, but after that encounter, I am inclined to agree.
PJ fans can not only be snobby to fans of other bands, but the 10C numbering system leads some to be snobby to others in the SAME fan base.

Agree with the cookie cutter show comment. I think they played for 80 minutes when I saw them. Must've had a flight to catch or something.

i don't get what all the hate towards stone temple pilots, and especially scott weiland, is about. stp made some kick ass music back in the early-mid 90's. it's somewhat ironic that people are calling stp irrelevant, but yet whenever soundgarden is mentioned the same individuals go gaga. what's also sad is that people are bashing weiland for lip synching (it was lame seeing that), but have nothing but praise for chris cornell even though he made a certain album called scream.... auto-tune.
not to mention, dean deleo is one of the better guitar players to come out of that era of music.

Yeah, I don't see how they're any less relevant than 99% of big name rock bands. Every album is solid and a few of them are great. Sure their new album wasn't as good as the rest, but neither was Backspacer.
I've read alot of disputes to the claims that Weiland was lipsyncing from people that were there. Besides that, there's probably more rock bands that use them than you know, and I'd be surprised if Ed doesn't start using them sooner than later.
Dean Deleo is the best guitar player to come out of the early 90s alternative boom. His brother, the best bass player.

Man, good thing i wasn't talking to that couple, because my number is WAY higher then yours> Like you said, it was all about them, and i wouldn't let a couple of people like that be an example of ALL PJ fans. Yea, it would be interesting if that same couple would be so DIE-HARD, if they didn't have the 10C numbering system. Pretty easy to be a die-hard when you KNOW you have a good seat for EVERY show.
If STP played i wouldn't care. If PJ wants them ther then so be it. I've seen STP 3 times : one time they were not that good, and another they were really good, and the other show was solid.
