  • Not bad. It's a shame that Eddie had to come along and ruin it with such cheesy lyrics.

Did it sound like old, old Foo Fighters to anyone else?

    Regardless, sounds great.

That guitar sound to me is just perfect. That's why I don't think the Foo Fighters will ever top that record. I see some shades of it in the riff.

This little demo gives me hope though when it comes to writing songs, I come up with little catchy one minute riffs and get angry that I can't build on them more, but if I can find the right band (won't be as good as Pearl Jam lol) hopefully they can help me build my songs like Pearl Jam did with Matt's Fixer demo.
  • its official: crappy album version of The Fixer minus shitty lyrics, pop production, hand claps and yeah yeah yeahs = GOOD SONG!

    Why not (V) (°,,,,°) (V) ?
  • Eh honestly i'm rather unimpressed beyond the drums in the song. I love backspacer and i can understand why people may not enjoy it as much as i do (so i'm not trying to get into that debate). Just personal i'm glad ed made cut it up and made into what is on backspacer

  • Before I start, I will say upfront that I am only 23 and therefore came into this Pearl Jam thing in the 00's. I however don't get all the hate towards Backspacer. I know it doesn't sound like Ten, I know its a little "pop sounding", and I get that for people a lot of older PJ songs are what they love. I also know that Backspacer lacks a song that grasps me emotionally (I lost a great friend in high school and tear up every time Life Wasted comes on...or when they played Wasted Reprised at Chicago 2 in 09 and I was too emotional to listen). I however, love Backspacer. I love the evolution of the band over a 20 year run. If the band were to continue to pound out the same music (NICKELBACK!!!!) they would eventually become uninteresting. I feel that Backspacer is the evidence that Pearl Jam will always be around, because they can still get together and have fun trying something new.
If I knew where it was, I would take you there. There's not much more than this (Live at Garden)

Sorry guys, Ed definitely improved the song. Lighten up. Not everything the band writes has to have fancy lyrics. The simplicity of the song is what makes it special for me.

I wanted to like Fixer..but it is just that over played song..that I don't love
but a change to it live in the future may be a possibility...
    someone talk to Ed

That "yeah yeah yeah" is incredibly catchy. It's a great fun song, and Backspacer to me has Pearl Jam's most concise and focused songs since Yield. Totally blew away Avocado to me.
