Anyone a fan.
I've only just listened to some songs on youtube, not bad, very heavy.
Seeing I am a big NIN fan, I thought I'd dig around for more industrial music and read about this band being a big influence on NIN.

What albums are good to start with?
Best songs?

the Psalm 69 is probably their most popular. I also liked In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up (Live), The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste, and The Land of Rape and Honey. Also check out their cover of Lay Lady Lay off of Filth Pig. I haven't heard much of their newer stuff.

    This is all good advice.

I do love Psalm 69, it was my first taste of them and it always stuck with me.

Psalm 69 is definitely their best. I might be in the minority, but I really liked Houses of the Mole. And I can still rock Revenge from With Sympathy even though Al would like to forget that period in the band's history.

    Psalm69 is amazing....easily their best
  • That's a band I haven't listened to in years. Psalm 69 is a great album. I might have to go dig it out and listen to it now.

I'm a fan. Just One Fix was the song that got me into them. Saw the video on 120 Minutes and I was hooked. Psalm 69 and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste are my fav albums. Houses of The Mole, Land Of Rape & Honey, and Filth Pig were also good. I have The Last Sucker, but it wasn't that great. Never got Rio Grande Blood, but they have a song on there that I like as well, LiesLiesLies. Seen them a few times. missed their farewell tour though a few years ago. :(

Great band....hard to believe their commercial success peaked in 1992....so long ago!

They more or less invented "Industrial Rock" and brought it to a wider audience.

Psalm 69 is a great album...."Just One Fix" is a great song. I always loved seeing them live...not as good as NIN, but very close!

They were on Lollapalooza 1992 with PJ!

    Their back!

I thought Al Jourgensen ended the band a few years ago, but apparently decided to bring them back and are touring (few dates out in the midwest and one in la and nyc) and recording a new album called "Relapse". Hope they come out to philly so i can see them again.

In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up is one of my fave live albums. Can't really go wrong with Ministry. I guess you should go for Greatest Fits for a retrospective of their best bits and then get Psalm69, Land of Rape and Honey and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste.

I really liked Filth Pig and Dark Side of the Spoon too, but I might be on my own with the latter!

  • They were great, but Al is a hack now. He released "Greatest Tricks" last year, which was one of those "re-recorded" greatest hits albums and it was an inexcusable mess.

And he also quoted Loose Change in one of his records, I don't need half-ass conspiracy theories in my half-ass industrial music.

I am blasting a few Ministry remixes in my office right now....gets me psyched-up to work late for tax season!

Re-recording your greatest hits allows a band to bypass their former record label who may own the original master recordings.

    Great band.....glad they are back!

    RIP Mike Scaccia :(
Mike Scaccia, the guitarist for Ministry and Rigor Mortis, died on Saturday night at the age of 47. Scaccia was performing onstage at the Rail Club in Fort Worth, Texas, as part of a 50th birthday celebration for Rigor Mortis singer Bruce Corbitt, when he collapsed. Shortly afterwards, he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Scaccia was born in Babylon, New York, on July 14th, 1965, and formed thrash metallists Rigor Mortis in 1983. Six years later, the guitarist was invited by Al Jourgensen to join Ministry. The first full-length Ministry studio recording to feature Scaccia was the group's most commercially successful release, 1992's Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs, which spawned such industrial metal classics as "N.W.O." and "Jesus Built My Hotrod," and was supported by an appearance on Lollapalooza that same year.

    Ministry 'Relapse' Once Again

Additionally, Scaccia appeared on recordings by a host of Ministry offshoot bands, including the Revolting Cocks, Lard, and Buck Satan and the 666 Shooters. The most recent Ministry album that Scaccia appeared on was this year's Relapse.

On Corbitt's Facebook page, the singer posted the following statement shortly after Scaccia's passing: "My brother is gone! The only reason I am who I am is because of this man. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't even be in a band. RIP Mike Scaccia! The greatest guitar player I ever knew!"

Ministry's official Facebook page later posted another statement: "MICHAEL RALPH SCACCIA ...Our Dearest Friend. We love you. We miss you. God Rest Your Precious Soul. We cannot fathom this loss."
