Which bootlegs are you listening to right now?

Six years ago, I was giving this jersey from a friend of mine... His name is Ross Knight... He plays for the Cosmic Psychos... He's a great man... He knows how to run a bulldozer like nobody else... And he gave me this jersey about six years ago... I've been carrying it ever since... I don't have any affinity towards any teams, but it's just a beautifully made jersey... Ross is here tonight... We want to dedicate this one to our other drinking partner who has to be back home... His name is Matt Lukin from Mudhoney... This one is aptly titled... Lukin... ~ Eddie Vedder

He looked scruffy, and he was about the second or third floor... He was just sitting on the open windowsill... And I thought that guy he's just loving life right now... Like a beautiful day... He's got kind of a run-down apartment... But he's got the window view... He's got the whole thing... And I looked up and I wondered I can wave to him, but he looks like I don't know maybe he might throw a knife at me or something... And then I realised, there is something in his hand... And it is kind of reflecting some kind of the sunlight... And then I realised he was just shooting up on the window sill... And I thought: Well, I was thinking the day was pretty good anyways but he was kind of really trying to make it pit somehow... And then I got nervous because I don't know that much about it or didn't certainly then... But you kind of nod out... So, is he going to go this way or that way?... So, I kind of like stood by this mailbox acting like I was busy... I wasn't going to catch him or anything but I was thinking... Sure enough he started to nod, and then fell back the other way and then disappeared into the apartment... Never to be seen again... But I sing about him often... ~ Eddie Vedder

There is a friend of mine... I was with him in January... We were talking about the things that we're going to do this coming year... One of the things that I mentioned was that I will be playing D.C. in early May... And here we are... He had plans too but that's before the earthquake hit Haiti around January 12th, something like that... His name's Sean Penn, and he's been down there just about ever since... I think he's been home for a few days back and forth... He's down there in the trenches and I've been getting messages from him that they still need help down there... We've done a bit of what we can do... I just want to suggest to you, if you have the willingness and the energy to just check out a website... If you just look up J/P and Haiti... JP is easy to remember cause it's PJ backwards... J/P Haiti... It's a beautiful site that says what they've achieved and what's coming down the pike... One of these things is an outbreak of diphtheria they're terrified by... Every little bit helps and you can tell them we sent you and they'll be so appreciative... They're doing great great work and they can still use your support... So, thank you very much for hearing that... The context of this song is an abusive relationship... I'm not dedicating that part to Sean... Just the title... ~ Eddie Vedder

Maybe I'm boring but the only bootlegs I've ever really found interest me are the shows I've actually been to. I've probably listened to Baltimore 2024 50 times all the way through -- it just takes me back to that moment of being there. Virginia Beach 2000 is another favorite of mine.

Shows I've been to get the most play from me, but I enjoy putting on a random boot while I'm at work or on a long drive. 

I've actually been listening to that Baltimore show quite a bit lately. The run from Evolution through Porch is great.

I'm the same. A while back I started to try collecting the ape/man shows. But I found I wasn't connecting to the shows since I wasn't there. No more than a single listen.

Can't Keep through Corduroy was so cool live. and then he has the part where he talks about the COVID cancellation -- as someone who had GA tix for that 2020 Baltimore show that really resonated.

Back in 1998, I took about 2-3 months here... Based out of Roma... It was a confusing time... Being here and hanging out with the locals... I had just a great great time... I got so many memories from it... We took a drive down to this place called Porto Ercole... I don't know if I'm saying it right... I've never been back... But it was a bit of a drive and we had this little mini Trabant and we were listening to Pixies... And U2... And the windows were down... There was no traffic, and it just felt as close to freedom as anything I'd felt since 1990.... I wrote a little song about that car and the people in it... And since we're on a race track, I thought we take the little mini fast car around the oval... ~ Eddie Vedder
