At last...Santiago 2015
Talk about Pendulum sounding rejuvenated, with that loud crowd chanting, it was awesome! The crowd is well represented on the mix, and the mix of the boot is quite warm and rich. Ed's vocals on the live opening staple are very passionate and he sounds wonderful. Mike also adds some really tasty, but atmospheric riffs in the background. Release and Nothingman are next, and the voices of both Ed and the crowd shine again. Matt's kit sounds very smooth and deep on this 2015 boot mix, his cymbals do not get too loud either (sometimes it's a minor issue on boots). Jeff comes in about 6 seconds late in Go (but damn, his tone is good); Ed waits an extra measure too as the crowd chants. His voice sounds mostly strong. The solo section came off more dynamic than usual. After MYM, the “new” Corduroy happens. Overall, I liked it. Ed singing the, "Everything has chains..." in a lower register and slower works well. It's a way to build the song up. The transitions are still a bit rough on the edges though and not quite together. However, Jeff really stood out perfectly on most of the tune.
Ed checks on the crowd, and we move into LB. Matt sounds like bottled energy getting ready to explode during the first verse with tom and snare accents. It sounds like Ed is joking around with the crowd before going into a spirited and groovy Even Flow. I really dig how the Sirens chant is now sort of part of the song's outro (still played after it ends too). The outro sounded incredibly passionate. The jokes between Mike and Ed are hilarious here, about speaking a little Spanish and penis size. Jokes aside, Light Years is dedicated to those who had a rough year and are in need of healing. That hit home for me, and it did just that. It's a healing, powerful, and beautiful rendition of the tune. Ed's vocal melodies are slightly different in a few places, they were gorgeous. The slow atmospheric intro to Severed Hand fits in perfectly after LY, good flow; as is Jeff's work in the rocker. It too is a very tight play all around, and both it and LY make for super nice touches to the setlist.
I've been enjoying the way Ed's singing the chorus in Daughter over the last 2 or 3 years (the "not fit to" line is kind of different in its accented syllables). It's even more noticeable here. The tag is pretty short too; I like it like that myself. The crowd singing the guitar riff along to GTF is super cool. It and Daughter sound very pleasing and elegant paired together. Those saying Ed sounded better this tour than recent tours; I'm inclined to agree with so far; especially when compared to 2008-2012. Jeff comes in a tad late in Got Some, but Matt does start it a bit too briskly. In Hiding is another sweet touch to the set list. It's a good play all around, I only heard Ed's voice slightly crack once. He does hit the notes a little better or close to it, and much smoother than in recent memory. Back to In Hiding, Matt added some extra drum hits that give the song some more punch. RVM ends the set. The jam finds Matt’s kick drum work to be very driving and makes the jam flow better. Mike and Stone complement one another with some cool, spacey sounding riffs too. This one has a very tight main set for sure, a good one all the way. It's a much tighter performance than I anticipated, honestly. The last half of the main set, from Light Years on, was better than the first half for me (setlist preference) but it was all wonderfully done.
Somewhat vanilla set placement, Just Breathe opens the encore but it's sweet to hear the crowd singing it with Ed. His voice is on point. Mother-Imagine makes a double dose of covers, the latter actually has the entire band playing; not just Ed solo like the 2014 covers. It's much better, fuller, and enjoyable in my view. Black gently follows, the crowd providing fine backup vocals. Eddie again, sounding the best he has in some time, and Matt is ON in the solo. Why Go comes out strong after that powerful play on Black. Those two need to be paired more often! DTE-Porch, rocking our socks off, concludes the first encore. Moving into the final stretch, SOLAT finds Jeff sounding quite epic again, an energetic rendition. Betterman to immediately follow it feels like a huge energy drop, but isn't too odd. It is tag less, but has a good long jam instead. I love having it in the final encore like that. Alive is up next, and sounds so good in this boot mix. It’s a truly fine mixing job on this one, for me. Stone and Mike are a tad low, but overall it's incredibly rich sounds through my in ear monitors. RITFW-YL sends us off.
An awesome start to the latest tour; Santiago 2015 features a top notch performance from everyone, including a very loud and energetic crowd. With the mix sounding spectacular and being a new release, this would make a great holiday gift to your fellow PJ fan; especially those who are somewhat new to the band as this setlist is mostly hits driven. Actually, just go ahead and treat yourself to this little gem!

I was at the show, and although the setlist was a bit more 'traditional' I think that being the first night of the tour gave it an amazing energy, both from the band and the crowd. I had a blast!

I would have loved to have been there, I'm glad you had a good time. I enjoyed the setlist, it's definitely a more traditional set but that's not a dig at it. It flowed very well and had a upbeat vibe to it. The energy translates well to the boot. I think you're right, the first show out they clearly were energized. Enjoy it, I really did.pearljam1809 said:

It's pretty good!mcgruff10 said:I really like the fact that they brought back the Corduroy rendition from Wrigley 2013!
During that bridge (I think that's the right term), the really loud Chilean crowd (as others mentioned before) - the kind of crowd that gives you goosebumps during the Just Breathe/Mother/Imagine trilogy - kept singing while the band was breaking/slowing it down. Priceless!
Have a listen to that Porch. You may find it interesting...
