Milano '14
An epic Release opens proceedings at the San Siro. Nothingman is equally as beautiful, spine-tingling. Sirens is a surprise third in. I don't feel it's the strongest performance of the song, nor is it the worst; couple of lyrical mishaps again and Mike's guitar seems to disappear early on - technical problems or just low in the mix? The singalong however - just listen to 60000 thousand fans sing as one! Black to follow is another huge surprise but it's a welcome one - I'd say this is one of the best Black's I've heard in a while; a magical performance from both band and crowd. The band then crank the gears up with Go, Evolution and Corduroy. I couldn't put my finger on it but for once I didn't really enjoy Lightning Bolt. Mind Your Manners starts off abit off-key I thought. We then see a sequence of four Yield songs in a row - Pilate, Untitled/MFC and Given To Fly. Surprisingly it's a section that looks better on paper, the performance just isn't there for me. Especially on Given To Fly where Ed completely loses his way after starting the intro with the chants in the song. It results in no singing until the chorus. The guys give Who You Are another play, I feel the one in Amsterdam is the stronger of the two plays on the tour at this point. The combo of Setting Forth and Not For You is excellent. Rearviewmirror closes out the main set.
Yellow Moon makes it's European debut and kicks off the first encore. Ed then starts off Small Town on his own. Thin Air makes it's second and final appearance of the tour; there is some beautiful & subtle bluesy guitar work going on towards the end of the song. Ed tells the crowd he met his wife 14 years ago in Milan and dedicates Just Breathe to her. During Daughter, Ed not only tags in WMA but also adds in Let It Go (from the film Frozen) and It's Ok. After Jeremy, Ed gets the crowd to sing Happy Birthday to Matt's wife. They then start the 7th song of the encore - Better Man. It doesn't stop there though; Spin The Black Circle and Lukin follow before the encore (on the 10th song!) closes with Porch.
Off the back of a 10 song encore, it's only natural that the second encore is a short one and following Ed talking about peace, Alive kicks it off. Matt's son Ray joins in on Rockin' In The Free World. Yellow Ledbetter closes the show.

Trieste '14
Small Town opens the second Italian show of the tour, I'm not really a fan of this opening shows. Coupled with Low Light its a subdued opening and below par in many ways; I love Low Light early on but with Small Town it doesn't make for a great opening IMO. Like in Milan, Black and Sirens are played as 3rd and 4th songs but switched around. Black is simply majestic. Why Go is particularly fiery, Ed on fine form. Animal & Corduroy raise the tempo before Ed talks to the crowd. They continue with Getaway, which sounds very good - at one point in the middle, Jeff's bass is incredibly funky. Best version of Getaway yet. Got Some on the back of Getaway works well. After the disaster in Milan, Given To Fly is back on form. Leatherman then makes it's only appearance of the tour, Ed telling the crowd it is a request. Lightning Bolt is back to it's superb best, the Milan performance didn't grab me but here it's just brilliant throughout. Mind Your Manners, as expected, is next. Deep continues the high tempo. Ed talks to the crowd and asks them to shout out "Hello Johnny"; Come Back is next and oddly placed between Deep and Even Flow and I think it suffers a little being sandwiched between two heavy hitters. Making it's only appearance in Europe, Infallible is uber-cool IMO. Rearviewmirror closes a 22 song main set.
Starting the first encore, the band drop a real rarity with Let Me Sleep. It's a strange choice performing a Christmas song in June! It's an adequate performance I'd say; better live & as an experience than on the boot. Listen to the collective gasp of the crowd when they realise what the song is about 5 seconds in! It's those moments.... Chloe Dancer/Crown Of Thorns is another one of those moments. It's a couple of Ten-era songs with Jeremy and State Of Love And Trust; Jeff's bass sounding awesome in the mix on the latter. Porch closes the encore.
The second encore begins with Better Man accompanied by the Save It For Later tag. Disappointingly the final three songs of the show are the exact same ones as in Milan; Alive, Rockin' In The Free World and Yellow Ledbetter.
Overall I think I preferred Trieste over Milano. Both good shows though probably not better than the Amsterdam boots for me.2000: Manchester

Not too excited about this choice either. The SBD copy has been widely available for 3 or 4 years, and there's already 72 other Binaural shows to listen to. Was really hoping for one of their more legendary pre 2000 shows that we only have audience recordings of.. oh well it will save me some money.papa_pearls_jam.pj20 said:Bellingham 2000. Totally agree. Vault 4 is the weakest vault by far. It would be nice if they sold vault 1 again.RS151862 said:
