The irony here is everyone saying 'Muse don't sound like rock music'. Wake up kids, Backspacer is Pearl Jam's least sounding rock record yet and couldn't be more pop if it tried

    Muse is not rock.

When I listen to Muse, I think of D&D kids in the basement switching off between Coldplay and Radiohead, pumping themselves up to kick the bullies' asses if they ever step foot in Narnia, goddammit!

*shrugs* Seriously. That's what they sound like to me. And it's definitely not "rock".

However, I do enjoy them... to an extent.

That's how a lot of people viewed Rush in the 70's and 80's.

not that it matters, but Muse were very rock....very....listen to Stockholm Syndrome for any evidence needed....they were awesome, but that last album was appalling by their standards....all disco synth and the rock is gone

I'd still agree Muse are a rock band at the end of the day, i just hope they sort themselves out for the next record....because really the last two have been very sub par for them.

Yah, I'll buy this... I have a very limited, recent knowledge of Muse... which I base my ill-informed opinions on. This is likely the reason.

    Hooray Pearl Jam!

i like Muse - maybe not the recent stuff - but their other stuff is amazing. AMAZING.
seriously IMO they deserved it, but just maybe not for this album?

To be honest though I would have rather seen PJ get a Grammy for their other stuff - Binaural, TEN - amazed at how it didn't win one, Vs etc than Backspacer. But I do love Backspacer

    oh well, who really cares?
(even though i was also hoping to see some nice faces this year on tv)
