I think it looks great as is. If you want to change the matting maybe see if a light shade of green would look good. (I thing there's some green in there.)

I think it looks a little generic... antiseptic..stark not complimenting or special

Perhaps a light colored frame to match the darkest shades of the weathered bus perhaps grooved
with a matting less stark then the white
maybe eggshell or that which also compliments the frame and the bus...maybe very pale jade
    as someone mentioned

you lucky ducky thats a keeper :D
  • Awesome piece! I don't have any decorative ideas for re framing but I wanted to mention, as a long time autograph collector, you need to have plexiglass instead of glass if you aren't already aware. Glass somehow eats away at an autograph overtime.
...to live in the present tense...

I would keep the frame and maybe put a light baby blue style matting in there.
  • isn't there someone here on the board that specializes in framing?

Looks good as it is IMHO. The neutral colors keep the focus on the 'artwork' which is where you want the attention. If you gotta change something perhaps a better quality frame, keep it black though; or only frame the slip cover since it contains the autograph.
  • i wanna do it like this... can someone tell the framer if he can take a look at this thread i am intresting in his services.. thanks all

  • How about throwing some stickers, picks, or anything small in that nature, in the large spaces?

Hey Joey... got your PM to check this thread out.

I can see what the framer was looking to do - go with a "neutral" mat. The only thing is that the matting is brighter than the color-average for the image, so while technically it may match the bus-roof color, having it in such a significant amount overwhelms the artwork, so your eye is drawn to the brightness of the mat, rather than the art. ...typically what I try to do with framing is find the neutral of the artwork, and allow the brightest, darkest, and most vibrant tones to remain in the artwork. In this case, the bus-roof color, while technically neutral, is overwhelming the artwork.

So... we need to find a color as a top mat (which I rarely recommend a color as a top mat, but this case would be appropriate). Now the baby-blue sky is very bright, so I wouldn't recommend it... same with the green in the bus. But if he's wearing denim in the image, that might be considered as it would allow the other tones (whites, greens, blues, etc) to all be brighter in comparison, so the art would jump out, and it would also add a character to the framing, and a casualness to it as well. ...but I'd need to see how it looks in person to decide whether that would be best... but we do have a matting with denim. There's also fabric with that tree green in the background, and maybe his shirt color as well. The rest of the colors in the cover are just very bright, that they would overwhelm it if used.

As far as orientation, you could certainly do a cd cutout to fit the shape. Or, you could even just not frame the CD part. It's not signed... so, it's optional to even have there. Did your framer who you brought it to give you any of these options? Your local framer might be able to help you with this too. If the significance in why you are framing it is because it's signed, I'd be inclined to recommend just framing the cover. It keeps the focus on the reason it's framed... the signature. And that way you can also make the back removable where the CD can be taken out and played, and you can handle the case, and then when done you can put back in.

    Anyway, hope this helps!
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

  • thanks for the response. i would be inclinded to just frame the cd book thats is signed, but it is thick and not just the the thin book that come with the cd's its kind of like a hard cover book if that makes sense. if u can recommend some examples of just framing it i would be intrested and have it done. This framing i got done locally and its just too plain for my tastes. thanks again
