That's the kind of paranoia I'm talkin' about! Good for you! :D

i agree with 4and20.

i have a rule that i won't be freinds with coworkers on facebook until after we no longer work together.

i try to avoid most out of office interaction with co workers. i ended up stuck in the middle of a firing after a birthday party turned sour at the bar. guy kissed a female coworker. she told somebody and eventually it made it to HR. i was called it to tell them what happened. he was fired that day on his way out he looked at me and said thanks. good times.

Light years... for the most part. But according to that one thread, I guess we Idahoans spend our time building computers. :?:

my last job was NOT corporate...there were so many dirty things going on (business and management wise), I kept my mouth shut and kept working my ass off, never invited anybody to my house, rarely went out with the other girls, still got canned...illegally BTW....but whatever, small company, they can go #$#@&%*+><?!@$##

• I'm self-employed and I've told myself it's totally okay to use Facebook anytime I feel it's necessary.

I don't know how you guys do it. Espeicially in this day and age.

Oh well, I've gotta run. I've scheduled a 5:00-6:00 pm session of touching myself and I will not be late for that.

That seems a bit over the top to be punished for calling in sick
and going to a concert on your personal time that evening

One can be sick in the morning and better by evening
that just seems bogus to me

and a sick day can be a personal day too
one does not have to be sick they can personal problems, family issues, Diarrhea
whatever
I think your employer needs to be challenged by an unfair labor practices lawyer,
hopefully someone will do that.

I made the decision 2 years ago to not be a facebooker.. I hope things like this will strengthen the movement to get off that damn site.. From the spying to essentially being an un-payed employee of many companies marketing departmants, It just isn't for me

• You could allow the 10 day suspension to wend its way through the grievance procedure and then take it to arbitration if you don't have the suspension lifted. Somewhere along in the process, they'll have to divulge how they knew you went to the alleged concert during the evening of the day you called out sick. If its an unpaid suspension, you request to be made whole and be paid for the days you were home from work. But you have to have faith in your union steward and business agent to argue an effective case and its a pain in the ass anyway. But from what you described, I don't understand the infraction. Or you could have a tech savvy friend or forensic computer specialist reverse hack the hack and see where or who it came from. If its someone on your employer's payroll, someone somewhere is going to have some 'splainin' to do. Particularly if its your home computer during non-work time and your personal Facebook page. Seems a gross invasion of privacy. Or you could contact the local alternative or mainstream press and see if they'd do an investigative piece on employers going over the line. But know your rights by looking at your personnel manual and whether you signed anything or agreed to certain policies for "personal conduct" and how sick time may be used and what is considered abuse of sick time. Be prepared for blowback and another big pain in the ass. Worst case, contact an attorney. There are websites where you can type in a question or brief description and you'll get a response from an attorney in a couple of days.

Good luck and let us know how you made out. And I agree with another poster regarding Facebook, I don't have an account and I'd stay off it.

Peace!
