Personally I haven't watched MTV since Sept 2001. See on the Real World there are no TV's, yet for some reason that fateful day the cast had a 13" TV on and they were watching the 9/11 attacks. Of course it later came out that their "reactions" were actually filmed after the fact, filmed for TV.
I Jersey Shore.
GUILTY AS CHARGED! Everything else on the channel sucks hard, and I haven't watched it since Real World Hawaii in 2004 (all of my college friends watched it), and then it was years before that. And I know a lot of people hate on JS, and on the surface it's a very hate-able show. I thought I was going to hate it more than anyone, seeing as how I really am not a fan of guidos. But, the guys on the show are pretty damn funny, and the girls have their moments where they can be entertaining. In between all of the craziness on there, one thing does shine through to me: these people can cross each other and do it often-- but unlike a lot of other "reality" shows on TV and even people I know in real life, these people do come forward to each other a lot and admit that they're assholes and that they fuck up-- and that does bring peace between them. A lot of people do not own up to their faults, but these people do.
I would also say that I've got to give them credit-- they've manged to make careers out of what they like doing best. They clearly aren't as dumb as most people peg them to be.
ah, what would we do if we had no trivial sensationalist bullshit to bitch about?
I think there should be a reality show based on a bunch of ultra-sensitive social conservatives locked in a house, with the real world being force fed to them. That would be tv worth watching. Get grandma a lap dance, hot box the congregation, get some non-whites to move in next door.... fuckin A.
Unfortunately, this is a case of "the real world" being pushed on those with a moral compass.
How about we put a bunch of insensitive, smug, sanctimonious, elitist, godless liberals in a room with cameras and watch them argue about how to best administer social justice? Oh wait...that's MSNBC.

It's the depictions of the acts they're engaging in. Isn't there enough filth out there influincing young people?
Don't you feel like MTV has a moral obligation to stop spreading this smut?
Of course you don't.

Then maybe they should simply swap their supposed 'moral compass' for a remote control and change channels.
