I have read it a few times in here, and maybe it is a little skewed (but) I don't think PJ is maliciously leaving anyone out.
I'd gather that they had to pick a spot to give to all of us and they did it in their home. Nothing more, nothing less.
Don't think me an evil person, from my perspective that comment made me laugh. I respect your/all fans passion and can't wait to meet you and as many others like you and I.

For a 20 year festival you think an American band you probably had no clue about till 1992-1993 (as they hadn't cleanly surfaced yet) should do their celebration festival in Europe?
The people of Seattle have a complaint souley based on the origins of the band.
This isn't Erasure, The Cult, Rolling Stones. If they held their anniversary festival in the US I'd be pissed if I was from Europe.
i agree..pj must play pj20 weekend in USA..its their home..but give a few dates to Europeans for celebrate this anniversary would be so cool...
Yeah, this.
We never said that PJ20 shd not happen in the US - see our comments in the rest of the thread, u'd have realised this. I initially agreed and still agree with comments that PJ20 shd be in Seattle where all of this took off.
All we're essentially saying is that they're not just a US band in the sense that they have garnered a strong global following over their career. Whether we caught wind of them in '90/'91/'92/'93...whatever, is irrelevant, cuz then you're basically also saying younger or newer fans haven't as much right to be fans as those of us who've liked them since the 90s :P
And I did say keep your knickers on abt my comment about how us Europeans show our passion at PJ gigs...cuz, like I said we all show big love for our band. No one is better, we're just different. And that isn't bad
if I keep holding out,.... will the light shine through?
With all due respect, Pearl Jam is an American/US band.
Your argument isn't valid because the Beatles are a British band.
People in Uganda could care less about PJ/the Beatles/Rolling Stones.
There is no such thing as a "global band".
You're entitled to your opinion.
Yes, they are American. And I rather admire their patriotism. But IMO and what I was trying to get at was that that doesn't mean they 'owe' US fans more (whatever that means!) or owe any of us more than others.
I didn't mention the Beatles and as far as I know nobody refutes they are British.
The "global band" will take far too long for me to explain what I mean and as I have a life beyond this forum, I'm afraid I can't spare that time :P
I know. And I have plenty of opinions. That's why I haven't shut up yet

no way buddy,we just make a conversation here,no judging person,or personality,just the opinions,and say what i believe-think

no ones saying any thing about WHERE pj come from but WHERE there fans ARE and it would be great for a lot of people if they were to come and play a gig or 2 over here . i think we can all agree on that one
as for being a global band well yes i think they are a global band in the same way the Beatles and the stones are/were.
im sure you can add a FEW others to that collective ,Pink Floyd for example. and Elvis though not a band IS a global Phenomenona and long may it remain so.
peace
EDIT:
I didn't see them live till 2000 because I was a broke ass, dumbass, loser and had too many kids to feed. Feed my kids or feed Ed V.???
I chose my young ones. ;-)
;-)
I respect all of your opinions, I just don't share them all.
I doubt anyone in here would argue the iconic status of the band. I agree the are a global sensation. But they don't play a lot in Africa, so I'd say they don't have as large of a following there. :-)
I wouldn't ever expect them to fly to England, prep, rehearse and play 2 shows.
I'd bet post festival they go Canada then Europe or South America.
Either/any of the scenarios will make some happy and some unhappy.
I am not a fan of pandering or entitlement. In fact I've wanted several times to beg or plead on here. But can't start a thread "petition to play Gone in Noblesville".
So, I jabbed the original poster cause I too (at times) want something. But I don't get it.. :-/
So is life.
D, if you come to the states and roll thru Noblesville I'll take care of your stay. My treat.

Who's arguing? We're discussing
And at least u got in 6 yrs b4 I did. I was a poor student for a long time and before that a poor kid with parents who were rich with love and understanding (but that doesn't buy you plane & concert tickets unfortunately). I regret every show I have missed cuz I'll never be able to experience them. It kinda hurts when I see those old videos :P
It's cool that we all have our opinions and I guess that's why some ppl can start a thread like this, some ppl just choose to comment and some ppl choose to put opinionated ppl down - we won't mention those who start threads just to hate on other board members for airing their opinions
I think most of us around here are old enough to know that life doesn't always go how we planned/wanted it to. I guess some of us don't mind trying our luck and asking/wishing out loud for miracles to happen - I still believe in magic
Hope we can all enjoy a beer or several at PJ20 - even if u only wanna put Dimi up :P
