Yeah one of the things I liked most about the Phish run was just that - how on top of their game they were. It seemed like they were really enjoying it too.
I am off topic by a day, but the New Years Day Black Keys show was AMAZING! Love those guys!
"We're the Black Keys .. we're from Akron, Ohio ... we're gonna play some songs for you...."
They then ripped into 8 or so "pre-Brothers" songs at full force! Almost all rockers! Then they brought out a bass player and keyboard player to play about 5 or 6 Brothers songs, which sounded good too. (I just like the old stuff a little better )
Then they brought it home with an extremely rockin I Got Mine! It was complete with stage background change (right when the drums kicked in!!) from low-lit understated "brothers" symbol to bright white lights in lettering saying "THE BLACK KEYS". This fired the crowd up real good!!!
The last song was Your Touch - a great one to end on! Dan's guitar sounded great and like nothing I've ever heard. He played it with his maraca shaker on one song and it still sounded great. Patrick is really fun to watch on drums. Great way to start the year!
Just got back from Phish after seeing them New Year's Eve as well. Tonight was my 40th show and it was INCREDIBLE and I felt that it was actually better than NYE. That's just me though; maybe it's because i was about 15 rows back tonight and in the 300's for NYE. Either way, after seeing like 15 Phish shows since my last PJ shows, I am REALLY overdue for my PJ fix.
I put the run in order of personal favorites: night 2, night 1, night 3. For me, Meatstick<Auld Lang<After Midnight couldn't be topped. One of my highlights from yesterday's show was Walk Away.. I love it so much when they do that. Agreed though, now that my Phish phix has been temporarily satiated, I'm in need of some serious PJ!
Standing right next to the cables, :ugeek: knew they would be showing up in front of me for New Years . That Meatstick was spectacular! YEM was also sick! Now where's my PJ :? .
So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)
What You Giving
I suggest you step out on your Porch.
Run away my son. See it all. Oh, See the World!
