Seen the black keys three times 2 of them were small shows maybe 1000 or so. The third was at red rocks opening for my morning jacket, they rocked but not the greatest venue for them, a bit large. I think that's how coachella will be, a bit big and too crowded although i really think they will be opposite kol. Won't be shocked if they outdraw kol. Overall i like the line up, but think it's a year or so past the headliners headlining days. Maybe not arcade fire, but i just am not as mesmerized as others seem to be. On anothet note i also was less than impressed with my morning jacket but then again the black keys opened.
Seriously though see dfa1979, saw them in 05 in a crowd of 200 or so. I was drug out to see a friends band open which basically sucked and then was like who the hell are these guys. Unforgettable!
Thanks kmt! I'm really stoked to go now since I was most likely going to pass on Coachella in favor of PJ's 20th.
I've seen the Black Keys three times as well. The first was at a small theatre in Boston years ago and they blew me away. Second time was actually Coachella in 09. They played the main stage late afternoon and I felt they rocked it for just being two guys up there in front of a sea of people. And most recently I saw them on the "Brothers" tour at the Palladium. Not my favorite venue, but a solid show. Looking forward to them this year. My guess is that they'll play the mainstage right before KOL. After playing to the big crowd in 09, don't think they'd relegate them to a smaller stage unless it was to play last at outdoor theatre.
Buddy of mine that's going with me is salivating over DFA1979. It's his can't miss set of the weekend.

Did you see the Growlers open for the Black Keys @ the Palladium?
Did you see the Growlers open for the Black Keys @ the Palladium?
Yes, I saw the Growlers. Not sure if it was just the sound system but I didn't wasn't overly impressed by the Growlers, since the Black Keys posted on their feeds about getting there early to see them. I thought Nicole Atkins was good though. She can sing.
Thanks. One of the bros from the Growlers cut my hair (did a hell of a job, too!). Only saw em once live at a record shop in-store & the singer was drunk off his arse. Fun, but felt like I didn't really get to 'see them', yknow.
Does anyone have extra tickets for this by any chance? Me, being a poor college student, was trying to save up money for Coachella. Now, I either am not going or am gonna be paying insane scalpers prices to go. If anyone has extra tickets PLEASE PM Me

Know lots of peeps shocked today that it sold out so quickly, and left out in the metaphorical cold empty-handed.
I have a few friends, who I never knew were even interested in going this year because they've never gone before, who are now kind of bitter with me over my extra free ticket. Offered it to one of my best friends, who I've always gone to Coachella with in the past, and he's stoked. He's getting married in March so Coachella wasn't really in the budget for him this year but we're in now.
