I would say that a very low percentage care based on those that I interact with. In fact, most support its continued operation (except here on the MT).
My opinion is that the US has no other choice then to continue its operation. If a terrorist was able to get off on a technicality ... and I'm sure that a good lawyer could find something ... it would be a major embarrassment and the political fallout would be huge.

The way I see it is Obama tried to close it. The Fox puppets freaked out, which means the puppet masters freaked out. This leads me to believe that one of two scenarios:
A: Had Obama been successful in closing Gitmo and we had an terrorist attack he would have been called "weak on defense". Once again, Obama caves under political pressure.
or...
B: Someone wanted it to stay open, so it stayed open.
The reason why it wouldn't fly with Bush btw is because Gitmo was part of a really bad security policy. The waterboarding, human rights violations, domestic spying just went hand in hand with stripping people of their right to a trial.
To Obama, it's just another Bush mess he has to clean up.

To get back to the topic at hand. I do actually still care. I do think Obama has dropped the ball on many things including this. While i understand that there maybe more important issues that he is facing i think as president you have to multi-task. now we don't know if Obama does have a team working on it but if he does i think he has to put more pressure on them and if he doesn't he better set one up. I do believe it should fall under the supervision of Eric Holder who is the attorney general in America.
