Who here abides by the infamous "rule" to not wear a band's t-shirt to the concert you're going to see.
Discuss...
I do for every concert BUT PJ. But I also believe that if someone wants to wear a shirt of the band to a concert, go for it.
Where did that come from anyway? The first that I heard of it was in the movie PCU- classic!

I don't do it because I like the opportunity to promote another band I like. I mean it's like, "Dude check it out... someone at a Pearl Jam concert likes Pearl Jam!!!"
But in all seriousness, I don't care or make fun of those that do.
I've worn PJ shirts at PJ concerts (and wear one at every Bridge Concert, too), but I don't do this all the time. And when I used to see the Dead a lot, there were tons of people who wore GD shirts, or at least GD-related/inspired t-shirts (me being one of 'em). But no other bands have done this for.
I don't see anything wrong with this "rule" actually. Wear whatever you want. And if you're wearing a tour shirt from 10+ years ago, I think it shows that you're a true fan.
for crying out loud this thread pops up every once in a whilst and causes shit.
BUt to answer, its just such a rule. You wear a shirt to show (extra) support for the band you like. I think its great as well becuase you can see the wide range of tours and stuff. Like if someone wears an astoria shirt i can be like yo you were at the astoria? me too and stuff.
Clothes are a part of transmitting information about yourself to others yay? So travelling down to the show fellow jammers identify each other and so on.
But where is the issue here anyway - why would it be considered sad in any way to wear the t-shirt of the band you're seeing play? These threads ramble away without anybody giving a valid reason for this 'infamous rule'.
btw, I go in my lovely new chequered top from Topman and ketchup-stained jogging bottoms which I'll obviously be masturbating through once the show starts. Keep your eye out for shaking bushes outside the venue, the whole grim universality of yer band t-shirts play the ladeez straight into me hands.
I wear whatever the fuck I want, it's pretty simple. I don't understand all of these "rules".

short story: I was in line for VH1 Rock Honors when a woman next to me turns to her guy friends and says "well, at least your not like some of the assholes who wear the band shirt for the band you're seeing". She turned around and saw me with my Who shirt (one i've had since i bought it at my first Who concert in '80). She gets totally embarrased and stutters "well your's is vintage! that's okay!" I laughed, said it's okay, I'm an asshole. She was so embarrased, I ALMOST felt sorry for her.
i like to wear other bands t-shirts to concerts, i never knew it was a rule...i thought it was my thing, guess not. Hey...what the hell is the movie PCU?? Im very curious now, thanks.
PCU is not our Bible or guidline..now if it came from Singles.....

I wore my Wishlist Mike McCready tee and my No Code tour tee to the two Camden shows. Both got some really nice compliments. Ironically, the guy that gave me the nod on the No Code shirt was wearing his as well.
I never wear a bands shirt that I am going to see. Just for the fear of some drunken frat boy seeing the shirt and yelling "WOOOOOOO.....PEARRRRL JAM!!!" While he hoists a beer in the air. But, do what ya want man!

well, come to think of it, i wore a PJ shirt all three concerts this summer.

Be who you are.
Do what you want.

If I opened it now would you not understand?
Thank you! that's how I feel.

Lol!! That was pretty good. I have to admit I think I have broken a couple of those rules
As long as your not screaming Freebird..... You're not one of those guys are ya?
I tried it once. The looks that I got convinced me not to do it again.
Who really gives a fuck
Rule #2
The only people that DO give a fuck, take Jeremy Piven too seriously
Rule # 3
who gives a fuck
Rule # 4
Don't let what someone says in a movie dictate your life
Rule #5
Wear what ever the hell you want
I wore a PJ shirt to Hartford and if I had an Eddie Vedder solo shirt, I would wear it to Boston
