  • Thanks buddy. It looks even better in person. The dents and other imperfections don't really come through great in pictures.

I just need it autographed now. :-)

John Mayer has TWO signature models ...Thurston Moore does, Billy Corgan does, G.E. Smith from the Saturday Night Live band frickin does....come one Fender spread the love!

even though those guys have their own their guitars dont look half as nice as this one! :)

It's all about name recognition. I'm all for PJ sig guitars, but only an EV sig would register on the radar enough, imo.

I personally think Stone is the most deserving of one, as he has really carved out his own sound. I'd prolly buy a Stone LP Custom.
  • wow, she looks amazing.....

now all you have to do is play her about 25% of what mike would do...

i would imagine that she sounds amazing...

It was a classic 50's strat. It was completely stripped since it was 2 tone and poly. He put a brand new 3 tone Sunburst and nitro finished on it. Then proceeded to age to the mccready specs. The original neck was maple so I bought a classic 60's neck and he aged it for me. All hardware was original to the classic 50.

The original neck was maple so I bought a mighty mite rosewood neck. That was obviously aged and decaled, etc. All hardware was original to the classic 50.
    :shh: :shh: shhhhhhhh

fyi that was a fender neck.....never say you decaled something ever...fender is still very sensitive about that for some reason...i remember bill nash got in trouble for making fender relics and decaling them....fender should have been honored that a man making superior guitars was putting fender decals on them..now they have the hideous nashguitars decals.. you gotta love a good nitro finish. nothing ages as well or looks as good as a great nitro finish. thanks for the details, and again, congrats on the amazing guitar.

no worries man. you didn't have to change the description, i just wanted to tell you that he put a fender neck on there lol... :D

those guys that are relicing these guitars do an amazing job. in my experience, the guys doing it on their own like your friend Vic and Bill Nash blows away what fender is doing with the roadworn series and in the custom shop as well.

Vic did an amazing job on yours. how long did it take him? i wanted to ask bill nash to make me a mccready like yours or a fiesta red one like stone's, but he is no longer taking custom orders...and when he did take custom orders it was very pricey.

  • He had it for a little over a month. However I was 2nd in his working order when he had it. If you want to know price and or Vic contact info/details shoot me a PM. I can guarantee you it's cheaper though by a long shot over the other guy. I priced everything out as well and met Vic at the guitar show in Valley Forge, PA. Awesome guy and does outstanding work.

My pickups and Bridge assembly arrived yesterday and I brought everything in to Joe Z at lunch time today. I will post the final pictures when he is finished.

I bought some 1500 grit sandpaper and took the new look shine off of the pick guard. It looks nice. Man, I can't wait to get it back!!!!!!

I will tell you that it played 5 times better after the relicing process alone and I can't imagine how it will play after I get it back with the new pickups and Bridge assembly. The pictures that are up now are right when I got it back from the relicing. When I get it back this week it will have the 3 ply mint green pickguard(instead of the one ply early 50's white pickguard. Fralin Blues specials with baseplate instead of the generic tex mex pickups and the best Strat bridge assembly money can buy from callaham guitars. I can't imagine how much better tone and sustain that bridge will provide, but from what I hear about them, I am dying to find out. It's supposed to be a night and day difference.

I will hopefully have it by Wednesday(he has another project before mine) and I will immediately provide feedback and new pictures.
