  • A previous post told you to buy one larger than you think you need. Great advice.

In Western Massachusetts it is essential to have a powerful snow blower.

It is so much fun to use that I do my neighbor's driveway after I do mine! :D
    Hold On

    I know it's addicting

I did my house..sidewalk....my neighbors sidewalk and both of their driveway aprons

I even let the wife try it out but only for a short time

I wish I had one. We had a lot of drifts though and you still need to shovel. I hope we get a break for a while. :(

Yeah, just don't clean it when it's on..some guy lost his fingers that way :P Yeah, after the last couple of winters I'm seriously thinking of getting one or moving to Florida. I'm really starting to hate the northeast

I'm not sure how people loose digits....pretty stupid people to stick your hand in there while the blades are turning...mine did come with a clog remover. Its like a plastic spear looking thing

Yeah, after last winter here and my wife being due with the baby and having all that snow I made my mind up real quick

Some people at my work go halves with a neighbor and share it...maybe you could do that ?

Good luck finding one now though :( ;)

but what about the snow blower?
  • Steve DunneSteve Dunne Posts: 4,965
Go w/ the Ariens. Quality accessories that go along w/ this beast. 3 years ago I got a Tecumseh/Craftsman from Sears, and while it's worked ok up until last week, the accessories are all made out of plastic. The belts wore out, need a new spark plug, and it just wasn't sturdy when turning. It's ok, but if I had to do it over again I'd take the Ariens.
I love to turn you on

in fairness to craftsman, spark plugs should be changed every few seasons.

in fairness to you, craftsman is sold on reputation.

    agreed on both counts.

in my case, after mine shit the bed for a day, i borrowed an ariens and it was solidly built. probably a more upscale model than mine, but for the constant pounding we've been taking here, it stood up to the task nicely. will be replacing belts and plugs tomorrow...just in time for another foot of snow!
