That is one of the biggest overblown "news" stories we've had in a while.. I guess it's a slow time for news after the elections, so something has to take it's place.
But these patdowns will stop... and not because a bunch of people who probably don't fly anyway are complaining, but the airlines are going to take a hit because of the media... On top of bag fees, shitty customer service, etc, the industry doesn't need any more bad press. My whole life

It would be political suicide, but his past voting record indicates his real stance.
And please don't confuse me with siding with Bush, I thought we'd been through that.0 -

Hypocrites.
Don't call me a hypocrite, please.
I am opposed to the Patriot Act, and to the escalating war in Afghanistan. So, those are 2 parts of Obama's policies that I disagree with. I want the kids home now! I am pissed that Obama has not brought them home already. As George McGovern said, I am sick and tired of old men sending kids to die.
I don't think everyone is blindly following Obama. I do think though, that I, and others like me, are defending Obama against ludicrous accusations and false criticisms. The rhetoric of hate is alive and well; the propaganda campaign that has been implemented since 11/08 is thriving and has proven to be successful. Bush was labeled a fascist during his presidency; I could write a 500 page book on how Bush and his cronies were fascist. That doesn't make it so, and I don't think he was/is - though I would love to feel that way.
I recently spoke to a PhD student in Political Science in a class we are in together. He is an avowed socialist and he says Obama is nowhere near a socialist. This is just one person's opinion, but it is the opinion of an educated person who spends his life studying political theory. We all have our opinions and our beliefs, but only a small percentage of us have educated, intelligent opinions. And, as I have said before, in American Society beliefs are more important than facts. This makes for a very scary world.
I support aspects of socialism in society. I support social security, medicaid, and medicare. I feel, with my knowledge of socialism, that our healthcare industry, mortgage industry, education system, banking and financial industry would improve and BENEFIT THE PEOPLE under a system that embraced some aspects of socialism. In my opinion, the aforementioned industries should not be DRIVEN BY PROFIT. People will always make their money - there is no reason to destroy the lives of others to do so. Outsourcing wouldn't be the death blow it has been to U.S. jobs and the American Worker. Socialism is NOT a bad, evil word. Stalinism and Communism are - and these two terms are what people are using to define Socialism. It simply is not accurate. But, people are too lazy to acquire knowledge. but how can any obama supporter be "pissed that Obama has not brought them home already. As George McGovern said, I am sick and tired of old men sending kids to die." when he ALWAYS SAID he would escalate the war in afghanistan? he even put on his campaign website that a lot of the troops would only be moved from iraq to afghanistan!

Well I was banned because I quoted the 2nd Amendment when I edited a page. The banning person was from Finland. I was banned for vandalism.
Seems a little biased to me.
In all fairness, your comments about the 2nd Amendment really had nothing to do with the Justin Bieber page you were editing... I mean, I'm as sick of him as the next guy too, but...And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.0 -

Go read Stanley Kurtz new Book if you want facts.
Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism
http://www.amazon.com/Radical-Chief-Bar ... 1439155089
In his controversial new book, veteran journalist Stanley Kurtz culls together two years of investigations from archives and never-before-tapped sources to present an exhaustively-researched exposÉ of President Obama’s biggest secret—the socialist convictions and tactical ruthlessness he has long swept under the rug.
A personable figure, a thoughtful politician, and an inspiring orator, Obama has hidden his core political beliefs from the American people—sometimes by directly misrepresenting his past and sometimes by omitting or parceling out damaging information to disguise its real importance. The president presents himself as a post-ideological pragmatist, yet his current policies grow directly from the nexus of socialist associates and theories that has shaped him throughout his adult life.
Kurtz makes an in-depth exploration of the president’s connections to radical groups such as ACORN, UNO of Chicago, the Midwest Academy, and the Socialist Scholars Conferences. He explains what modern “stealth” socialism is, how it has changed, and how it continues to influence the Democratic Party. He sheds light on what the New York Times called a “lost chapter” of the president’s life—his years at Columbia—and proves that Obama’s youthful infatuation with socialism was not just a phase. Those ideas have shaped his political views and set the groundwork for the long-term strategy of his administration.
It could be argued that Obama’s past no longer matters, but, in a sense, it matters more than the present. Obama has adopted the gradualist socialist strategy of his mentors, seeking to combine comprehensive government regulation of private businesses with a steadily enlarging public sector. Eventually, in his hands, capitalist America could resemble a socialist-inspired Scandinavian welfare state.
The gap between inner conviction and public relations in Obama’s case is vastly wider than for most American politicians. If Americans understood in 2008 the facts Kurtz reveals in this shocking political biography, Obama would not be president today. The fears of his harshest critics are justified: our Commander-in- Chief is a Radical-in-Chief.
About the Author
STANLEY KURTZ is a Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, as well as a contributing editor for National Review Online. He has also written for National Review, The Weekly Standard, The Wall Street Journal, Policy Review, and Commentary.

Beside the fact that you can't call Huffington Post biased and then expect someone to take a book called "Radical-in-Chief" seriously (Because if HuffPo is biased, then a book called "Radical-in-Chief" sounds REALLY biased), I had to laugh at this sentence:
"Eventually, in his hands, capitalist America could resemble a socialist-inspired Scandinavian welfare state."
Given that Scandanavian countries have a higher standard of living than the U.S. and have better education systems and better healthcare systems, I have to say it doesn't sound too bad.
(ignoring, of course, the fact that it isn't what he's doing at all)And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.0 -
