This week was a 'greatest hits' week... Best of The Beastie Boys and Stevie Wonder (I just started playing piano after 10 years of guitar).
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
Right now, I'm waiting impatiently for my Springsteen Darkness box set to arrive!
The "Darkness" box set is amazing, the notebook is crazy, so is the extra concert from Houston in '78 and the doc. The live run through the band did of the whole album without an audience in Asbury from 2009 is so cool, unlike anything I've ever seen and a real trip to see them perform the whole album in an empty theater, totally different experience. This reminds me a bit of the Ten boxset, not as many goodies in it, but a great amount of extra video content in addition to the Promise 2CD.

A couple of Radiohead cd's and the two Dead Weather. Already had them on computer, but now I want all of my music lossless.
lossless???? lossproof?
When I upload them from cd to itunes they sound better at lossless than when I download them at 256 from itunes store.
yeah... no... thats stilll not any clearer. im a bit of a techluddite and have never downloaded an album in my life. can you explain this lossless thingy please?

I think it's part of my OCD!! When you buy an album from itunes it compresses the music, which takes out parts that you aren't supposed to be able to hear. When you upload a cd at apple lossless (a setting in itunes) it loads the album exactly like it is on the cd, with all of the sounds there. It does not compress (shrink) the sound. It takes up much more space, an itunes purchased song takes up 256 kbps while a song at lossless takes up 700 - 1200 kbps. to me it is worth it. Hope that makes sense?

I picked up an indie LA band called Local Natives. A buddy just got me in to them and they are really awesome!

I bought Le Noise by Neil Young - it's growing on me but I guess I should have done more research. It's literally just Neil and his electric guitar. It has lots of cool sound effects and what not but still, it's a little bare for me.
Also got around to buying the new Kings of Leon. Yes, they've gotten a bit more mainstream every album but I still find it very listenable. It's not like they totally went pop.
Amazingly enough, Le Noise is the FIRST Neil Young studio album that is a solo album in the truest sense of the word (the only sounds you hear are created by Neil). Considering his reputation as a solo acoustic artist, I found this really interesting. Great album, btw.
