You really don't know what you're talking about.

Despite China's strong and sustained economic growth, poverty is still persistent, especially in remote rural areas. Income inequalities between eastern and western China have broadened, and the income gap between rural and urban residents has widened considerably since the late 1970s.

What's the latest on income inequalities in the U.S these days? Last I heard 17% of Americans live in poverty.

You said the vast majority of China's population are peasnts. This is bullshit. But keep going with your fantasies.

China has HUUUGE population obviously and a lot live in very rural areas or come to the cities and factories looking for work. All poor looking for riches.

China is in a very unique situation, rapidly rising economy in the 21st century which is unprecedented. There will be many bumps in the road because NOBODY knows what will happen or how to deal with it.

However, China has a very rapidly growing middle class and poverty is trending down, not up.

Things aren't looking up in Canada or the States is because the manufacturing sector has taken a beating over the last 2 decades...both our governments have allowed companies to relocate to Mexico and China and open manufacturing facilities in places that have poor labor and environmental laws. 15 years ago it seemed everything was made in Mexico, now it's made in China, as soon as these corporations find somewhere cheaper they will relocate out of China, just as they did Mexico. Personally whenever possible I buy Made In Canada or Made In USA, because the one thing I believe in passionately is that the Canadian or US made product is far superior than Made In China, no if and or buts.

And besides, isn't the claim to valuable natural resources what every powerful country wants own to right now, since natural resources are becoming scarcer and scarcer? It's not just about territory, but valuable territory.

And I bet you're just making it up as you go along.

Next you'll be claiming the goats on the islands have wmd's that could be deployed against America within 45 minutes.

Why don't you just admit that you have a problem with China and everything to do with China?
    What the - :?
The article did mention the natural gas and mineral deposits... And I was hardly speaking against China, nor for the U.S.

You just think I have something against China...I don't actually.
Actually Jeanwah is right, i've read about this before, at least i think she's right, it is sitting on pockets of natural gas.

China's big problem is that it's growing too big, too fast and alot of people are going to get left behind in the transition from developing nation to superpower status.

So does Libya. Their only problem is that they don't have the science and technology to get at it safely without blowing themselves to little, tinny bits. That's what the whole Lockerbie apology was about. So that the U.S. could lift sanctions and American oil companies could get in there and start sucking stuff out of the ground.

**as told by a guy I go fishing with who is head of safety for one of the largest petroleum companies over there. He splits his time about 50/50 between Texas and the Middle East.
