The NY kids did give props to the C's this spring when we picked apart LeBron James' carcass, so they're ok in my book.
in all fairness, one of thoe ny kids is a fan of the basketball team in los angeles and not new york though....

That's the truth, Jeags. He's a fraud. I gave him shit all spring/summer about his infatuation with the Lakers. But I gave him props when we tragically lost in the Finals. He can't help it if he roots for frontrunners.

calm down dude. didn't mean to strike such a nerve with you. relax. so you root for a team 3,000 miles away from your home town. if you can sleep with yourself at night, doesn't matter what others may think of you.

It's a lot easier to "be at more championship games" when you choose to root for teams that are always in the championship, right? :?

Don't be bitter because they are good and the sixers. Suck
Who made this rule you have to root for teams just from where you live?
I have always despised the knicks for many reasons
No one made it a rule...but I've just always found it weird. Why the Lakers? Why not the Heat? Why not Seattle? You could make a case for any team and ultimately there's no real connection to any team (i.e. they're all made up of millionaire mercenaries anyway). But with your home town team, at least there's a geographic connection to where the team plays and is located. Because you could've picked any team and you happened to pick one of the winningest teams ever, you're going to catch flak. In other words, it looks like you're being a bandwagon fan (I don't know you so I can't say whether that's the case or not). Cheering for your home town team is at least an unarbitrary way to choose your teams.
Whatever though - cheer for who you want. I just couldn't imagine not cheering for my home town teams. I'd feel like a traitor.

Aww, come on Neil. You know the rules. It's okay to break them, but if you do, you gotta be able to take the ensuing shitstorm.

didn't we go thru all this in teh fraud thread?
nelly grew up a lakers fan because of his brother. he then latched on to the yankee's, canadians and packers because he liked the uniform. being the big time college foot ball fan that he is, he can't help but root for the packers. i'm not sure if he is a nascar fan, but if he is, i'd be willing to be he has a hardon for Jimmy.
