  • A marriage of beautiful lyrics and phenomenal musicianship are why I started listening to PJ. And the community, PJ's loyalty to the fans, and their contributions to various charity's are the cherry's on the 100ft tall sundae!
  • I love pearl jams music for many reasons, its integrity, longevity and quality. A soundtrack to my life since the first time I heard alive. The setlists that change every night and are amongst the longest of any band. The emotional and political standpoint. The evolution of the music rather than putting out the same stuff over and over. Their music is real, done for love and it comes through on every album and every show.

I've really enjoyed reading all the replies on this thread and it's hard to reply with something not already said because most of what I feel has already been summed up beautifully here. Pearl Jam came to light for me watching Headbangers Ball on MTV with Alive and the same nights' playlist showed Hunger Strike too which at the time blew me away more than Alive I must admit. By the time I'd heard Alive a few more times followed by Even Flow it wasn't long before the Ten vinyl was gracing my decks and by the time I was halfway through Black I knew this album was going to be with me for a long time. It was only when Vs came out that I realised how much I loved the band and it's music and I've probably never been so excited about an album release as I was when Vitalogy (still my favourite) came out. You can discuss the albums and songs to death as we frequently do here, likewise the best shows/setlists etc but the main thing is that we as fans have a piece of this band running through our core and always will. I've never been so deeply affected by any band in 31 years of listening to and buying music and nobody in the last 20 years comes close to attaining the same classic rock band status that for me puts Pearl Jam in the same bracket as The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, The Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. They will truly deserve a place in the Rock 'n Roll hall of fame when it comes and I don't think they're anywhere near the end of the road yet. The best live band I have watched by a mile and the best fans I have ever associated myself with. Pearl Jam is about music but it's also about fans, community, love, companionship and whatever the spirit that lives on these boards is. You can't explain this stuff to a non PJ fan! I simply love PJ, they are my shining light and I never want it to go out! Dimitris you are one of the nicest people I've ever had the good fortune to meet, as you say, love as much as you can..

I'm only recently(Nov last year) back into PJ after a long hiatus, it was EV's Into the Wild, Backspacer & then seeing them live that got me back into them & now they have surpassed all other music that used to be my fav, I barely listen to those anymore & go WEEHEEE whenever a PJ track comes up on shuffle on my ipod which is pretty often considering they number over a third of what I have on there. Anyway their music is fab, the lyrics the guitaring, the drumming.... everything; their ethics are fab; 10C is fab + the people I've met through 10c(you know who you are ;) )are fab; live PJ are AMAZING & hell they're way sexy too. So, yep I'm a sworn PJ devotee now. PJ FOREVER!!!! :D

I have been a fan since I was 11 when ten came out. Didn't get a chance to see my first show until 2005 but I have been hooked ever since and make the effort to see a show each year as long as they are touring.

wow, where to start. I suppose it can be summed up like this, this is the ONLY band who's music has zeroed in on that one spot deep inside me. Felt and still does , like they were writing and playing what was on my mind and in my heart. I can apply and identify with the majority of the catalouge. To sum up it's PJ, whats not to like!!

thanks for the contest dimitrios! Only eddie words can describe what PJ means to me:

...do you see the way that tree bends? does it, inspire? Lean and out to catch the sunrays, a lesson to be aplied...

there so much meaning put in to the above words, and its been my fav quote since 1996 when no code out. I often decide much journey of my life based on that lyric, mostly on the part that everything you do has a motive and could attract reaction from other individuals, while doing so you may get more experience to decide better next time. And there's only one band that can wrote deep lyrics like that, PEARL JAM. And they really INSPIRE us all in the last 20 years, may they have another long years more ahead!
    it makes more sense...
to live in a present tense...
  • pearl jam saved my life.

Can't really be described... Pearl Jam's music, from the moment I heard Ten back in 1992 at my older cousin's birthday, as an 11 year old I was hooked! I demanded my parents buy me the CD the next day. They got me into music. They inspired me, spoke to the voice inside, and taught me to sing at the top of my lungs and be passionate about life and love and art!

    Good times and good friends.
  • Pearl Jam are my world, i am a music lover and listen to all types of music but nothing compares to Pearl Jam.

They have helped me through some pretty bad times and made me see life differently. If ive had a bad day i turn on Pearl Jam and everything changes.

PJ have encouraged me to travelled around Australia and Europe for the best 2 months of my life to see the band and i would not of had the courage to travel this year to Europe by myself to see them if it wasnt for Pearl Jam as the incentive to see them Live in Berlin was too much to pass up. Plus on my trip i have met some aursome people who will be friends for life and im very grateful.

Eddie has inspired me to be sucessful in my career and in general life....to the band i sulute you and also amazing people who love Pearl Jam.

I sometimes sit down and listen to their Lyrics and it makes me think about life and different aspects of how otherpeople view life and take experiences.

And while im thinking of it, my dogs names wouldnt be Pearl and Vedder if it wasnt for Pearl Jam lol..

I'm having a beer now for Pearl Jam to pay tribute to 20 years...

Thanks D for the amazing generosity... gratsie mate

It is very hard to describe exactly what they mean to me, But I have been there since the start, The music has helped me through alot of good times and bad. I don't honestly think there has been a day go by where I haven't heard a PJ song or atleast played one. I got to share some great moments with my wife, the only times I've seen PJ live, she has been with me. she has grown to enjoy the band, not on my level :D , but its something great we share together

Thanks again D for doing something like this give away :D

Fans like D is what separates Pearl Jam from everyone else out there. In the past twenty years Pearl Jam's music has helped me celebrate life and comforted me when facing a death, sheltered me in a time where I was at my lowest and then lifted me even higher during my times of joy. I waited outside the Ryman last summer for the possibility to shake Ed's hand and thank him (and the band too) but no luck. This is what I hoped I could get out if I didn't become too star struck-

  • I live, eat, and sleep the Jam. They are my true passion in life. If I could go to every show I would, if I could own every boot leg I would. They bring me up when I am down and they get me through things that have happened in my life, good or bad. I would not know what to do with out them.

    Thank you Pearl Jam

for me... the shows sold me on this band back in the 90s... now... words cant explain... The connection that this band has built with US is truly amazing... no other band has accomplished this... their shows are just so amazing... Ive been to 30 and have hundreds at home... THey still surprise me all the time... Listening to Ed address he crowds making us feel so awesome... Being able to communicate how appreciative they are of us... makes it very easy to spend my hard earned money on them...

The fans... US... going to the shows.. hanging and talking to strangers who now have become friends... Someone on Twofeet thick wrote an article about it the other day and said... " I feel like ive come home when I go to a PJ Show" I could not have said that any better... I can be 1000 miles from home but at a Pearl Jam show i feel like im right at home... Pearl Jam at MSG is an experience that I wish everyone could feel 1x in their life... the Unity... Also, to know that the louder we are... the chants the singing... THe band responds to that every show... they are so aware of us... they dont need to be... they choose to be... thats the best part.. .and this is the best band in the world... and we are the BEST MUSIC FANS damn straight! haha

  • Pearl Jam is the greatest band ever. Since 7th grade they have been my favorite band. News, concerts, setlists, articles, and albums give me something to be excited for throughout the year. Also, their activism makes me pay attention to world events.

Pearl Jam means to me ...... *Cue Evolution*

Pearl Jam is the music that I can listen to when I am in any mood. It's the music that I can relate to. It's the music that the lyrics give me the best feelings. It's the music with the best guitar solos ever. It's the music that brings back the best memories. I can't think of a better day than the days I have sen the band live.

Pearl Jam music is like a best friend that will always be there for you, will always help you out, always rock out with you.

I have been a fan since the beginning but recently PJ has been an amazing way to connect with my kids... Both of them have been to shows with me individually and they love the travel and one on one time with Dad. Plus by the end of this year, both of them will have started on their guitar lessons which is an awesome activity... I started too

    Thanks D!!

  • Having Pearl Jam's music to listen to has brought fun and joy into my life that wouldn't have been there in any other way! Listening to them at home, in the car, by myself, with friends, with my kids, wherever, whenever, always brings a smile to my face, gives me goosebumps and leaves me wanting more!

I respect them as a band and as individuals, as they work and play together and how they explore their musical talents separately as well. That probably makes them feel new and fresh. I applaud their generosity and concern for the environment.

Pearl Jam is not my religion, but I do believe the cosmos inspired some way to make sure that these 5 people met and that their lives came together in this time and place for the purpose of creating the band and the music that they create.

    Long live Pearl Jam!
