Ok, here goes. I am not opposed to the idea of hunting animals for food, although my internal spirituality tells me it is wrong to kill a fellow predator, like bear, lion, or wolf. For starters, they are the lynchpins in healthy ecosystems and there are far too few of them remaining (in most places), and to me they are totems to be admired and protected. I wish I lived a thousand years ago and hunted critters with my tight-knit bunch of hommies on a daily basis. Then we’d gather around the campfire at night and sing and dance within a real community that actually needs each other. AND, and this is usually my biggest gripe with hunters, we would display genuine respect for the lives we took, and we would be thankful for that animal’s sacrifice. I cannot stand the callous disregard for animal life I see reflected in most hunters. Not all, but most.
Now that we are so removed from that kind of primitive life, I can’t really justify the need to kill wild animals. I mean farmers and ranchers have ruined the vast majority of wilderness so we could all go pick up groceries at a store. So, if we’re gonna be a bunch of lazy slackers with a store one block away, then can’t we just leave what’s left of the wild kingdom alone? Well, no, not really because of the aforementioned lack of natural predators. Deer populations in some places are just ridiculous and something needs to be done. I’d personally just turn a bunch of lions loose, but then I’d have to listen to all the humans cry about the viscous killers in their midst.
Anyway, hunt if you truly feel compelled, but do so in a manner that is fair and respectful to the animal and the overall spirit of hunting.
Bottom line is that humans have fucked things up so badly, and there really is a super-plethora of them, so why can’t I hunt the real problem?

Ohh eyed, you're so cool 8-):) I'm with ya on the disrespect thing. Somehow its so "manly" to kill an animal with a high powered rifle and then take a picture with it and gloat. They glorify themselves and it makes me sick.

check out this vid. A group of hunters are tracking down a leopard. the leopard surprises one hunter and has his way with him until another hunter shoots it dead. The hunter without his gun is reduced to a screaming little girl.

The majestic leopard loses its life just trying to protect itself from these yahoos. Sorry, hunters are pathetic to me.

    Yikes, that was fucked up!

Maybe we should all start a "hunt-the-hunters club" and sabotage these fuckers that do it for sport.

    sounds like a wonderful idea

texas is terrible about this sort of thing.
texas houses huge big game ranches where you go and shoot anything you like.
big cats declawed, caged, and when the cage door opens the cat exits the cage where shooters are ready.
    that is pure evil.

i hope they all die of testicle, mouth & throat cancers.
    anus cancer too.

I believe as long as hunters are allowed to hunt bears, that well-skilled vegetarian shooters like myself should be allowed to pick them off too. It would be a guilt-free way for me to hunt.
