Prob the Black Keys, but I'm just getting into them.

im sticking by my choice of radiohead. No other band has impacted culture, and thats defined in many ways, social, political, music wise, art wise, music industry wise etc... in the way radiohead has. From Kid A being released, to Thom's band playing festivals most recently, no other band has had the far reaching impact on culture and life that radiohead has. They are simply the band every other band looks up to.
Honestly....I can't think of any other band that I've consistently enjoyed all of their albums in the past ten years.......even though their self-titled came out in 1999.
Sadly there is only one rock album that I actually LOVE from the past decade, and thats KoL Because of the Times.
Other favorite artist from the past decade has been Opeth.
All of the above is excluding PJ of course.
That's an interesting candidate. I will say that I haven't listened to anything from them since Iowa, but their debut is some good shit.

slipknot were good but an artist of the decade to me has to be a major influence. were the last 10 years filled with bands trying to emulate slipknot? I dont think so.
Well, I think it's more about personal enjoyment than overall impact.
That said, Radiohead is also my #1. It's not because they're the most important or whatever, but rather that I've listened to and loved all of the records they released the past decade, and along with Pearl Jam, they're the band that got me into music.

+1
I would have to personally say Opeth as well, along with In Flames (who've put out a variety of albums, and a decent amount of them too), Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Kaki King...I enjoyed a lot of music this decade, and if I continue I'll just wind up listing every band I liked so I'll just stick with these.
Thanks EPOTTSIII!

It's sorta funny how many people here don't put Pearl Jam on their lists. At least we're an honest bunch.
As for my list... When I get done listening to all of the best music from the past decade, which should happen sometime between 2030 and 2040, I'll get back to you.
I should probably check out Arcade Fire sometime by the sound of it . . .
For my nominations, I choose:
PJ
Radiohead
Mark Lanegan
NIN
Josh Homme
I should have put Clutch in the top five. They put out five very solid records and each had it's own unique style and artistic direction. They have a great fan base, great live records, and one of the best live drummers on the circuit. The only downside is that the lead singer Neal Fallon is a Pitt Penguins fan
1. My Morning Jacket
2. Jack White (Stripes, Raconteurs, Dead Weather)
3. Wilco
4. The Flaming Lips
5. Death Cab for Cutie
6. The Black Keys
7. Band of Horses
8. The Decemberists
9. Dr. Dog
10. Radiohead

Dave Grohl has done more? I think QOTSA are a lot better than the Foo Fighters.
